C'mon, no one picked Stephen King? For shame!
1. The Stand by Stephen King (in a tie with many others, including Misery, with one of my favorite "bad" characters ever and The Shining which had me scared in my kitchen in broad daylights)
2. The Real Lincoln: A New Look At Abraham Lincoln, His Agenda and An Unnecessary War by Thomas Dilorenzo. This is in no way intended to be an endorsement by me of slavery or as confederate, Johnny Reb saber rattling. Read this if you want an new view of ol' Honest Abe.
3. Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salenger. No introduction needed. Awesome work. Banned books rule!
4. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Forced to pick just one, I'll take "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" as my favorite from the series.
5. Macbeth by William Shakespeare. I know it's not a 'book' per say, but it is my favorite of the Bard's works.
There are many other books that I like, and I was hard-pressed to condence a lifetime of voracious reading into 5 favorites. There had to be about 50 other books that lost out here, including:
The Harry Potter Series
The Man in the Celing
Running With Sicsors
The Phantom Tollbooth
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Agatha Christie's Assorted Works
Nichomachean Ethics
James and the Giant Peach
A Painted House
and others.

This thread makes me feel old... lol
The Lords of Discipline by Pat Conroy
Cat's Eye by Margarat Atwood
The Pirate and the Pagan by Virginia Henley
Memoirs of a Geisha
Those are my top 4 books...if I absolutely had to pick a 5th I'd pick His Dark Materials Series by Philip Pullman (the Golden Compass, the Subtle Knife, the Amber Spyglass) It was so intriging
