I get teased all the time by the people who recently pretended to be my friends. It really hurts. Sure I'm almost 16 but at least I have something I'm passionate about. Heck, I'm lucky to have liked it for these whoe ten years! I consider myself lucky and they don't understand.

One major misconception about animated movies and other works is that they're just intended for little kids because of their art form and rating, However many animated movies carry very adult themes too that little kids won’t see when they watch’em. I am a huge animation / Balto / TLK etc fan and I could care less about what other people think about a 20 year old guy who likes movies like that. You should just see my DVD collection heh The characters in my opinion are just as real as they would be in a live action film, the fact that these movies are animated means nothing.

A lot of people give me a very funny look when I say that my favorite movie is either Balto or Lion King. Most people in my high school think it's childish, but to be honest I think it's a lot better than the majority of things people like today. I am not afraid to clearly state that Balto is on the top of my favorite movies list. As for my brother (who is older than me) he just rolls his eyes every time he sees me watch it. I think after more than 10 years, he's gotten used to it :D

So, pretty much no one cares anymore that I like Balto. And if someone has a problem with it, I just ignore them. *grins* I've even had some of my friends come over and watch it with me. So, whenever I say I watched it over the weekend, they just laugh (in a good "No way, not you!" kind of way).

No shame of being a Balto fan!

*sigh* I'm just picked on full stop, I am 16 and I love animated films, Balto is still my fave though, I hate it when someone pretends to be my friend then does something or says something really horrible and I find out they were just pretending all along *whimpers* it's really not funny or fair. *hides nose under paws*

I know I've already posted, but this happened a couple days ago:
I let slip the fact that I do roleplaying, but I didn't specify where (fortunately), and my friend said that I was too obssessed with being on the internet and that when he wold tell my friends they will all laugh at me, and he went on and on about how they would laugh, which got on my nerves and made me think, "why did I say that?" Then I said, "OK, forget I said that." By the grace of God, he did, and he didn't mention any of that, because we were on our way to another friend's house and if he did, I would have heard.

*lets out a sigh of relief* close call there!

Everyone's been in a situation where they've "died a million deaths" so to speak, if I was you personally I don't think I'd care if my friends knew or not.

For instance just recently I was on my way to a movie with a friend, and as we're driving to the theater he decided he was going to rummage through my glove box and what does he find? But the Balto Soundtrack! He tried to give me a hard time about it LOL, he said something like "Balto?!......come on man.........Balto?! are you gay?" heh to which my response was "Well it's great music, the fact that it's a soundtrack from an animated movie really doesn't matter to me, you have no idea what my DVD collection looks like do you?." He didn't have much to say after that.

Be yourself! (Even if it's hard to do, you're living a lie if you're anything else!) :D

I 've had problems like that. Once when I was at school I went on the internet when I had some spare time and this girl from another class who annoys me all the time came up and saw I was looking on Balto websites. She asked me what the film was about and I explained and she said "Oh! Sounds boring!" to annoy me and she kept asking dumb questions which I had already answered ten times before until she finally went away and I just thought "Phew! Thank God she's gone!"

I don't own the movie so I get it from the library over and over again. I do feel a slight bit weird beeing seen in the kids movie section. There are computers for internet in plain sight of the kids' movies. At least one of my schoolmates are on there at all times and I can feel their eyes on me. A slight bit embarrassing. My best friends are so supportive they've grown to love Balto all over again!

But I talked about it all the time with those people who pretended to be my friends. After I found out I didn't spend time with them but one was in my Geometry class. One day I was passing by him and his jerk friend. The guy looked at me and was like "Who's Balto?" I heard him laughing when I didn't answer.

Yeah, I'm sure you know about me already  But Ima state my situation anyway. You're well-aware of how much I like Balto (not that much compared to ther things [Taco Bell)

A few of my friends know (cuz they've seen me draw it when I was in school and such, and they think I'M obsessed with Balto. Naturally, they wouldn't understand that i simply find him fun to draw.. But I have a thing for wolves too (heck, my tattoo is of a wolf XD)

My friend Tasha has talked to me about it once upon a time too. She was like "Why do you like Balto so much? You should draw more people." I told her about how fun it was, but she still pointed out that it was a kids movie. I pointed out how the characters' voices, personalities, and the plotlines, and everything else good about it were interesting and had more adult content in it than she took it for, but she's the kinda person who sticks with her opinion (even if it hurts someones feelings and isn't true -_-) and is too honest. And OF COURSE my friend(s) who's younger than me thinks it's ok! Hahaha

Heck, even my fellow artists at home think I'm weird for drawing Balto. They like the movie ok, yeah, but the reason they scoff at me drawing him is because they don't like the style its in (mind you, thats no reason to dislike something  That's like racism!)

My parents know I like Balto, but they don't really care. They (should be) aware that I'm going to be an animator and I could use all the "studying" I can get (watching character and animal movements and whatnot) Bt they still find it kinda weird that I still like cartoon movies (their latest WTF was when I bought Bambi II XD)

So in conclusion, yeah, I'm often given a hard time about Balto

Most of those instances I can totally realte to. Even though I don't really put my art up on the site any more, I still draw some Balto.

My "firends" just watch me. It's rather irritating, really. Someimtimes, they'll give me a look that says "Dude!! Grow up.", but all they'll say is "Okay...whatever, dude." Then they leave me with this uncomfortable feeling. I usually can't concentrate while I draw at school.

Family is generally the same. Although I get smoe teases, I just shrug them off. And like catwhohas14tails said, I think it'd be good to get a little encouragement every once in a while since I'm planning to be an animator as well. They don't care, but me liking Balto is something they can always blackmail me with.
