Yeah, I agree. One person even went so far as to use a stuffed hippo to fake footprints. Really, when it comes to faking something that's so easy to believe...it's really very easy to pull off.

Well, I'll "listen" to what you guys say, but I still won't believe in Nessie. It's just me...Sorry for spamming up this topic I know this post isn't needed.

True, I said faking a sea monster would be harder than a UFO...but I didn't say faking a sea monster would be hard, period!!

Oh, ok, sorry about that. I misunderstood you.

Heh heh...
Anyway...I'm quite convince there's something down there, although I'm not entirely sure how something like that could escape extinction...makes you wonder, yup?

My opinion? Although I know that I'll get torn apart by you all for a professional and scientific answer, I'll go for it: Nessie is not more than a creation of one of the most fascinating outcomes of evolution... the human brain. We have so much capacity that we can invent creatures that never existed, and not only that, we even manifest those creatures, that much that the entire population begins to believe in it.
We've done it with our gods, we've done it with our national heroes and we do it with mythical creatures. So, where's my point in saying "Nessie doesn't exist."? Alright, here's my simplifyed list:
- Representative evidence has never been found...
...and if evidence either for or against something can't be found, it doesn't exist. - Lack of high quality photos...
...we always see those nice faked images at low resolution, with immense blur effects, bad colouration and (sorry for that one) sh!tty focus. If there would be a real Nessie, a professional animal photographer would have taken a proper shot of it. - In times of films like Jurassic Park...
...we all know what technical and digital possibilities exist to fake an apparently real animal today. And yes, I love Jurassic Park for that. - Not enough food resources...
...considering the fact what energy demands a plesiosaurus must have had, Loch Ness would be a dead lake today. And where no other animals live, a plesiosaurus couldn't survive, except they'd go for a cannibal act and eat themselves... but even then... Nessie wouldn't survive much longer. - Biodiversity is required for any species to survive...
...it's an estimated count of 250 animals that make a species able to survive over longer time. And since we're always talking about 1 Nessie, it's simply impossible that it could still be alive today

Yes, it definately does. I also think thay even though it might not exactly be a plesiousaur, something that was supposed to extinct is probably still alive in the water. Also, I think that there might even be more than one of them, because sighting of Nessie started hundreds of years ago. I don't think that a single creature could have lived for that long...

It's a fun concept but I'm afraid I don't believe in nessie, it would be cool but I don't think so, Nessie is only a legend, a myth, maybe at some point somebody saw a large snake or alligator and thought it would be more fun to say they saw a sea monster or genuinely thought it was a sea monster but there is no way a pleiosaur or anything else could have survived for so long and there were two and they had been breeding there would be loads of them by now and I've been to loch ness and there is no way more than four could live there without being detected, also the idea that it was frozen in ice that melted and it broke free is impossible the cold would have killed it, not being rude or anything though, also probably completly off topic but Kovu are you a scientist or something coz most of your posts are really long and scientific (again not in a rude way)

Conspiracies, legends, and cruddy photos -- evidence enough? XD Just playin'. Maybe evidence cannot "can't" be found, but just "isn't" yet found. That's gonna be a loooooooooong "yet", however... But who's gonna ask Nessie to smile properly for the camera? This is why it's so hard to filter out fakes...but I'm sure you already knew that. You watch JP, right? Then you should know this famous quote from the first movie: "Life always finds a way." I've heard plesiosaurs will eat stones and rocks if food sources become too scarce...but between you and me (and whoever else is reading this), I don't see how even that can fill a ol' Nessie's belly. Hmmm...wow, it pays to be a biologist, yup? ^^/ I didn't know that. Perhaps there are more of them out there..somewhere? Somehow, I don't see Nessie and Champ getting together anytime soon to raise little baby plesiosaurs of their own...point taken.

That's gonna be a loooooooooong "yet", however... C'mon, just a few years back they were scanning the entire lake, and they simply found "nothing" that could give a hint on a Nessie. And, my opinion is, when you don't find anything, there simply isn't something. Sounds logical, ey? Suka wrote: Probably your most powerful arguement yet. But who's gonna ask Nessie to smile properly for the camera? This is why it's so hard to filter out fakes...but I'm sure you already knew that. Seriously, Vivek Sinha also doesn't ask the tigers to smile into his single-lens reflex camera. And still - he's doing excellent shots of them. Suka wrote: Yes, JP rocks, doesn't it? I like the first and third ones myself. Yeah, the first and the second here (I can't stand the third). Well, actually I managed one of the largest JP internet-communities a few years back. Suka wrote: I guess this sorta links to your second arguement, and I can relate to that. People and their creative minds these days, yup? ^^/ Indeed, it's amazing what the human brain is able to do. Suka wrote: You watch JP, right? Honestly, no, I don't have the time to always watch JP Suka wrote: Then you should know this famous quote from the first movie: "Life always finds a way." Well, you've to see: the more Plesiosaurus swim in that lake, the more proper and unfaked photos of them would appear. And wether you believe it, I'd probably be one of the first persons investigating the phenomenon how such an animal can survive there, and I'd be photographing the animal - of course - because photography is one of my passions, as you might now.
