That's scary!!! another Barbie!? even if I'm a girl and I ONCE(upon a time...a long, long time ago) like Barbie. I would like to say Barbie is getting worse and worse because the story is always the same. (not to mention that I'm growing up ... ) this is stupid. I don't care about Balto4 But I want something related to Balto. ANYTHING!!! not Barbie!

steetboris wrote: Quote: You know Steet, maybe they had this movie planned before your joke... OF COURSE it is a coincidence, these sort of things are planned months before their announcements. But I still can't believe it...What was the probablity for this to happen? Unfortunately the Barbie films still sells well, but more on the name than anything if you ask me. Also, it seems like most of you don't know that they are making around 3 Barbie films every year, since a few years. This show you the ONLY reason that push them to make films : MONEY!!! Aaargh, maybe I will regret this, but if I had a great opinion on Universal before, now I HATE THEM!!! Although, there is still one thing to consider : it's not Universal Studios Home Entertainment that will make these Barbie films, they will only distribute them. But still... Why is life so unfair? Why does everything they do is the exact opposite of what I want? I must say I really didn't expect that, I don't think it can be really worse now...
Can you blame them? Does a movie-making company get these movies free? You cannot blame any company for trying to get more money because that is what they have to do to keep up their business.
Well, if like was fair, you'd get back wrong for wrong, let's be glad some of the things we do slide for now.
Mmm, how big is this a deal really? If you don't want to see the Barbie movies don't get them. If you think about it Barbie is wayyyyy more popular then Balto, look at all the merchandise out for Barbie. Let me say that Barbie movies are NOT THAT BAD.... they teach a good moral and they never have blood and gore and next to no violenve, its a good film for young girls to watch with their family.
Well then you might say that Balto does that too, teach good morals, and nearly no violence, a good family film. But you can't have everything can you? It's because Barbie has sold so many movies that they want to horrendously expand on it. One thing i would like Universal to do however is trying to make more franchises instead of sucking dry the few they have.

Listen : I don't blame them for making one Barbie film, I'm blaming them for planning to make three Barbie films every year, as well as more Land before time sequels etc... Do you REALLY think that making THREE Barbie films every year is necessary? Not to mention the tons of merchandise products of course. (and not only dolls)
And what is the common point of all these projects? They are ALL made ONLY for money. That is what I'm blaming them for.
Every good company try to make both projects for money, and "more interesting or originals" ones.
Besides, all this shouldn't prevent them from doing some littles things to keep their franchises alive, such as the things I've listed at least 999x times, that would cost much less than making a Balto 4...But no, they just forget about their previous franchises, forget about their fans. THIS is really an offensive position, to me. And if you think they won't, I can answer you that they already did this to An american tail, for example.
Do you know that the only reason we got the Balto 1 dvd, is that they made Wolf Quest? If it wasn't released, I'm sure they still wouldn't have released it on DVD...
And let be sure that with the current marketing strategies they have now, we would have never had any sequel for Balto, and probably not even the dvd of the original.
To summarize this : They ONLY care about the things that sell extremely well, and put their focus only on them. They just forget about everything else, while there are a lot of little things that could get them more money too, as well as satisfying more people. And they also don't see that some of them could have been as much popular if they would have been given a chance.

If there is only one thing I have no doubt about, it is that Balto could have become a big success as much as the average Disney film in the 90's.

I agree. If Universal tried harder, and at least tried to get more publicity etc for the Balto films, Balto would of been a huge success. They shouldn't of just made the film, waited a year or so, then said 'It's not selling well, stuff it, we'll make different films.' or whatever, without having at least tring to get people to buy it. I mean, they didn't sell it in a lot of shops, the prices were high, and they didn't adsvertise it enough.
I didn't even know there was a Balto 3 until I discovered this site, and that was only in December last year, and I didn't know Balto even exsisted until I saw the dvds in a library that allowed you to borrow them.

The almighty Dollar is pritty much the drive of US companies. They'll do what ever it takes to save money and make money. I'm sorry, I know that everyone here wanted a Balto4 but the only way they would make one would be if they knew it would sell sell sell. And they just arnt interested in it anymore.
But really I side with you on this really how many LBFT are there more then 10!! I hardly know anyone who likes them given the choise they would rather see Balto than LBFT or Barbie.

If they would think, they could pile some of those big bucks they make and use them for more constructive films, like Balto. OR, they could at least use it to advertise for older films. My dad and I have always thought that it would be a great hit if they began playing older films in theators, kinda like a reliving of the old days.

Money makes the world go round so to speak, sadly their way to think isn't something we can change, Universal had also a BIG fault that balto wasn't so famous for putting it in theathers etc, when Toy Story came out. But here's what I don't understand why if they only want money ignore a petition of an entire Balto community cause they don't give a damm about balto all they want to do is have money fast'n easy. Kareh wrote: I didn't even know there was a Balto 3 until I discovered this site, Me too. lol. Exactly, they ignored the petition because they only suck the dry of the things they have they are too lazy to put a little bit of effort into at least a balto dvd pack.
so my they way I think of it is ....

Hey, what goes around comes around, I guess
Though it is kinda sad that we aren't getting a Balto 4 and we are getting THIS. And yet, its funny. Kind of like National Security

Really that's just ridiculous. Is the world really that desperately running out of ideas for cartoon movies that they have to single out a topic as incredibly irritating as Barbie and make billions of sequels to it because they have nothing else to do? Gah Universal really needs to rethink their DTV sequel department. Or just bulldoze it over altogether. That might work.
I once had a Barbie with fabric underwear.
