Dog-hybrids can either be really affectionate, loyal, and sweet or aggressive, destructive, and savage. I have a coyote-German Shepherd mix and she's the sweetest dog I've ever met (except perhaps for my old Rottweiler

). But I didn't buy her from a breeder or anything like that. I adopted her after her owner dumped her and her pups when he moved. I've seen wolf-dogs advertised in my local paper, but I never had the desire to buy one because many of these people run wolf-dog puppy mills. They figure if they get a wild animal and breed it with a tame one, they'll get wild-looking offspring and can sell them for lots of money. Sadly, this seems to be the case.
And you have to have a LOT of land for a hybrid. If I didn't have 60 acres of land for Timber (my coy-dog) to run on, I'm sure she'd be more destructive or at least very miserable.
Anyway, if you live in the city, I would suggest getting a dog with a low-energy drive. A dog such as a beagle or a husky can't live in the city. They just have too much energy to be stuck in a small yard all day with only some walks in the day. A Chiuahua (sp), a Papillon, or other small breed would be a good choice. They don't mind staying indoors all day and would thrive in a yard or walking for an hour a day. It also depends largely on the dog as well. Most people want puppies, but an older dog would be a better one in my opinion since they're already out of the teething stage and have had some training. They're also less excited and much more placid. That's just my two-cents.
