Out on the plains with Wavivu and several other lions, Imammu, crouching close by Kelly, nodded. 'I'll come,' he said to their leader.


There was a rustling in the grass, and heavy breathing could be heard. If any of the lions were looking back, they would see a thick brown spike of hair bobbing along out of the grass. Suddenly, Jot, Rin's mate, slithered into view. 'Sorry I'm late,' he panted, rubbing dirt off his face and tall mane with a white paw. 'Ran into this skinny, pathetic lookin' lion and - '

The hunters had gone with Wavivu - Imammu, Kelly - and Jot, Rin and Ave.

Kati was itching to go with them; eager to run, to chase the herds, with the dust rising around her and the grass whipping against her face. She blinked wistfully out of her thoughts, then turned to Chriki and Yuna.

'Good morning, Yuna!' she called to her mother-in-law. 'The hunt's just left.'

Wavivu's head dropped. ''Jot Jot Jot. . .'' he said, quietly, then gave a heavy sigh. ''You know your mane draws far too much attention to the hunt.''

Later, the leader lifted his head, looking at Jot with a very serious expression. ''Where exactly did you see this 'Pathetic Looking Lion'? '' he asked.

"I know I told them to go without me" yuna said smiling at kati as she laid down on her side Alama padding over and attempting to climb on her back

Jot was hastily licking his paws and using them to smooth down his mane as flat as it would go. He looked up at his leader's question, his spike split into two and each half pushed down against one side of his head.

'What? Oh, dark grey, he was, and skinny, with silver paws,' he replied in a rushed whisper. 'I found him lying on the ground not far from the camp - tripped over him actually - I thought he was one of the elders, but I don't know who he was because his face was against the ground. And I asked if he was coming to hunt, but he just groaned real loud. So I just left him, seeing as he didn't seem to want to be bothered . . . Was I wrong?' Jot's eyes widened in anxiety, and he started to rise again. 'Shall I got back and help him?'

Kati smiled. 'Right - they were in a rush. A loner is said to be scaring the prey.'

'Of course,' said Ave with a smile, ''come on!' and he pelted away. When he was a couple of metres from the others, Ave slowed his pace, not wanting to scare any prey off. Then he began to crawl along on his belly.

'I hope my bright fur colour won't scare the prey off,' he said to his sister. 'do you think I am going to be any use in this hunt? With this bad leg and my fur? It's going to be a bit of a tough hunt for me. I can feel it in my bones.'



I groaned aloud again. He had been tripped on and got a great big dig in the rib.
He grimaced his teeth, rolled onto his other side and thought deeply. Would it be safe to ask for some food from that nearby pride?

Yuna looked confused for a moment "odd I didn't see any rouges during my walk let's just hope whoever it is isn't a danger to the children" yuna said smiling and nuzzling Alama when she finally managed to get on to yuna's back

Rin shook her head. "Dear brother, I'm sure you will be fine." She assured him. "My fur is just as bright, but I still do some hunting on an occasion and it goes just fine. So don't worry about it." She smiled softly, putting a paw on his shoulder. "As for your leg, I'm sure it'll be a struggle at first, but you have great potential!"

Wavivu frowned. After a few minutes pause he turned to the prey scout. ''Imammu, you'll be charge of the hunt, I'm going with Jot to find this old wrinkly,'' he said.

Then, nodding to his Patroller, Wavivu said, ''c'mon, Jot, lead the way!''

Ave put a paw on his sister's and smiled. 'Thanks, sis. Do you mind if I kinda stick close to you throughout this? It will make me feel more easy about the whole hunt.'

From a distance, I could hear the sounds of paws. With mind suddenly going crazy, he began blindly digging at the dirt, trying to make a hole underneath him to hide in.

Chriki sighed getting off her sunning rock and trotting off not really caring if anyone followed her as she left the camp she heard a strange noise coming from some bushes her hackles raising as she turned to face the noise

'Yes, sir!' said Jot eagerly. He whipped around and crawled off towards the camp.

'Yes, sir . . . ' said Imammu, feebly, giving a salute with his tail. He turned to the other hunters, then grinned uncertainly at Kelly. 'Uhhm . . . Circle around?' he suggested.

Jot, upon reaching a good distance away from the sight of the herds, straightened himself. His shoulders felt stiff after all that crawling and ducking down and weaving through the grass. He peered around at the plain on which he now walked - the grass was shorter here, with a few trees, and patches of bare sandy soil here n' there - he remembered clearly that he had come across the skinny grey lion lying in the middle of one of these patches, among some rocks.

He turned to Wavivu. 'Not far now, your . . . Greatness!' he smiled. 'Just looking out for some rocks!

Kelly nodded her head with a smile and moved her tail swiftly. She then moved forward beginning to get in to position, her baby blue eyes looking closely. The thought of seeing any enemies concerned her however.

Rin nodded. "Don't worry Ave! Of course you can." The pretty ginger lioness replied eagerly. Nothing could be better for her. He and Jot meant the world to her

Ave thanked her and dropped himself closer to the ground.

Meanwhile, Kudan who had stayed to look after his elderly friends, Jafiya and Obbler, sat down in front of the two.
'Do you need anything, Sirs? Water? Food? I could catch you a mouse or something. I know where a few are and - '

'I'm good thanks, Kudan,' said Jafiya, rolling on his side in the sunlight.'How about you, Obbler?'
