A few minutes later, Kit pulled up. Smiling as he and his friend greeted each other. Kit helped Mikey unload the rest of the truck, talking to him about the ranch the whole time. When they finished, Kit and Mikey sat on the talegate of the truck. "How's Mary?" Kit asked, his friend shaking his head. "Still sick but she's getting better." Mikey replied, forming a smile. "You know me and Mary want to be godparents, when you gonna get settled down?" He joked. Kit shrugged and scratched his head, "When women stop looking at my muscles and look deeper, into my heart." He said and grinned. Mikey agreeing.

I closed my eyes, and leaned my head back on a board. I listened in on their convorsation, since I had nothing better to do, really.
Ace snorted, wanting to comunicate with some one. He was very bored just sitting in his stall, even though he really loved how comfortable it was compared to the one back at home.

Mikey scratched his forehead, "I saw you horse back there, my god he got real big last time I saw him." He grinned. Kit nodded in agreement. "I remember when I was still bottle feeding him, now he's eating pounds of hay each day. Plus grass." He said and grinned. Mikey had horses at his place, all big like Zeus. Looking at his watch, it read 2:00 "Welp Mikey, I got to get going. We got some wild horses that need gatherin' remember?" He said, Mikey nodded. "Alrighty man, well I'll meet you down there." He said and shook Mikey's hand. "Hey Katelyn, you might wanna start getting your trailer ready because it's an hour's drive and we need to get movin'." Kit said, hopping off the talgate so Mikey could leave.

My eyes snapped open. I quickly hopped off the ledge and opened the stall door. "Bye, Ace!" I said, stroking him and hurried out of the barn and into the trailer. I mucked it out and layed down new straw.
"Ready to go, Kit!" I yelled, climbing into the cab of my truck.

Kit chuckled as he hitched his trailer up and climbed into his truck. Pulling out onto the road, he was soon joined by his friend Mikey, who actually didn't live that far away. Kit smiled some as he rolled his window down and pushed a CD into the radio area. He loved The Beatles. The first song to come on was Day Tripper, one of Kit's favorites.

I followed Kit out of the ranch and onto the gravel road. I felt very excited about picking up the wild horses, but I knew it wouldn't be very easy to get them back. I turned the radio up and found my favorite station, hoping my favorite song would come on sooner or later.

Kit smiled and turned on his CB radio, Mikey was on trying to talk to him. They had handles on what they called each other, since Kit and Mikey both drove truck. Kit took a deep breath and picked up the mic, "Breaker 1, Break 1 this is The Bandit sin am I hittin' ya Sandman." He said, releasing the button. Mikey chuckled, "Mercy sakes, mercy sakes you put about 10 and a half on me, blowing my windows down." Mikey said and let the button go. Kit chuckled, "10 4." He said and kept driving.

I rolled the window down a little to let some fresh air in. My suitcase was still in the backseat, along with some of Ace's show halters, apples, and carrots. I kept his treats in the car to prevent them from going bad in the storage room in the trailer where there was no air conditioning. His halters needed to stay in good condition for when I did show him, but we mainly did barrel racing.

Kit and Mikey drove for several more minutes - an hour until they finally reached this crowded area of people and auctioneers. Kit slowed to a stop, a man walking up to him with a clip board. "You the fella gettin' the harses?" the man asked, looking him over. Kit nodded, "That's me." The man nodded, "Straight back behind that building." The man said, pointing at a huge red building. His voice was gruff. Kit nodded and began the drive, Mikey close behind.

I rolled all the windows down and followed Kit and Mikey. This was it. I would finally get to see, hear, smell, and possibly handle a wild horse. You could hear them whinning, and snorting over the trucks.

Kit and Mikey slowed and parked just around back. Apparently, they had to herd the horses into the trailer but that was way to dangerous. Some of the calmer horses were already tied up, it was a black stallion and a couple wild mares that were running around looking for a weak part in the fence. Kit immediately chose the black stallion to be his.

I got out of my truck, and walked around the trailer. There they were. Smiling, I walked over and stood next to Kit and Mikey. The horse who stood out to me most was a chestnut colored mare. She was very wild, running around and throwing herself at the walls. I wanted her. She was pretty, fast, and wild. Pointing, I said to Kit, "I like that one, there. The chestnut mare."

Kit nodded, "Well you can have her. I'm taking that stallion right there." He said and pointed at the black stallion who was charging at them and snorting. Kit knew this boy was fiesty and dangerous, but that's what he liked about him. "Hey, Mikey why don't you help Katelyn with the calmer horses." He offered, Mikey agreeing and walking over to the other horses that were tied up. He took one, leading it near the gate.

Smiling, I walked over to get one of the calmer horses. I hoped that I would be able to lead my mustand into my trailer a haul her back to the ranch. Ace loved new horses, especially on he could run with. He might have a harder time keeping up to her though. As Mikey and I started leading calmer horses out, I stared to thing about what I would name my mare. Jamia? After my sister? Jamie would sure love that, and expect me to let her ride the wild horse. Not a chance. Way too big of a risk, Mom would kill me! Then I figured it out, Camilla! It would sound like Cameelea, and I think mom would like it.

Kit himself took one calm mare and lead her into the trailer first to keep his stallion calm. Since the only one who could understand a horse better than a person is another horse. Grabbing a rope, some people gathered around to watch. This was a risky move but Kit jumped in, readying the lasso for the strong horse. Phantom the whole time whinning and snorting, changing direction quick to avoid the big man. Kit swung it around and tossed it over his neck, holding tight to the rope and using a whipe to gently guide him into the trailer.
