I've already told my friends and younger kids about Balto. They seem to like it a lot more once I mentioned it to them. Oh, and yeah, I'll stay a fan as long as my early teenhood lets me stay a fan of Balto.

Well as I'm pretty much an adult right now and on this site I can say yes ^^;

What really happens with me is that even when I reach a point that I start to hate a specific category of something, what I experienced before stating that fact remains something that I enjoy.
While I no longer care too much for kids movies that are currently coming out, I grew up with Balto.
And if/when I have kids, I will show the films to them and allow them to grow up with it as well.

It's nice to know I'm getting some replies like this one that say they will be sending what they know to newer generations in the future because I worried that one day no one would ever even know who the real or animated Balto was... :shock: And wouldn't that be sad....

But you must keep this in mind. Sure, you can tell your kids about it, but will they like it? Depends. You can't force them to like something that you like. They could even forget themselves.

Of course! I really enjoy the film so why wouldn't i tell anyone younger than me 'bout it? I think everyone should just do a bit on their part for balto to be known by the next generation!

Lolz. In my opinion. And to answer the topic question, no. XDD

Would you tell your kids or anyone younger than you about him?

Maybe. Balto's never been seen as a famous dog to me. I don't really mind if kids never hear about him. He's not a big factor in my life. This isn't in a mean way, either. It's my opinion.

To be entirely honest, as the years progress I probably will not tell anyone about the movie version of it, but rather about the actual story. Many people do not know that the Iditarod started with Balto and the other dogs and that the reason we are vaccinated against diphtheria as infants is because of them. Or at least that's what I see in the future anyway. We can never entirely be sure. (;

^ THIS. Excellent answer, Hunt! 8]

I think the fans all to often forget that it's BASED on a TRUE STORY.

That is indeed true, but when say showing kids the first Balto movie then telling them it's based on a true story gets them more excited about the film as well as the real world.
The factual base of Balto makes it more appealing for everyone and especially engaging for kids, it adds something to it.
Kids won't want to hear about the actual Balto, but rather they would like to think the Balto in the film was the real one.

That may be true, but I was saying that that was what I would do. I would most likely forget about the movie years into the future, but I will always remember the true story. And I never said I would be telling kids, lol. xD There are plenty of adults who do not know the true story.
