As for Kodi, I'll admit he didn't have much in the way of humor. But I think he could balance the two, especially after learning that people matter more than careers.

Well, it's like I always say. If mistakes were commericals, we'd all be on TV. I've jumbled more than my share of gender pronouns due to typos myself, so I really can't criticize.

That does not mean that, had either Universal or Amblin Entertainment/Dreamworks ever decided to explore the possibility of doing a fourth movie (yes yes yes...I KNOW. The chances are about zippo as it stands right now, and has stood for years), that they wouldn't have included a romantic affiliation for Kodi. Maybe. And then maybe not. But I think that is because Kodi as a character was designed as a young teenager (from a human point of view anyway). And not all teenagers are always thinking "sex sex seeeeex! Oooooh boy! Ohboyohboyoooohboy! WOO HOO!!" Many teenagers, so the experts say, are often uncomfortable with romantic affiliations and relationships (in spite of often acting just the opposite in order to maintain their credibility in front of their peers) and so, either by design or lack of confidence, throw their energies into a hobby, into sports, or into a job...sometimes to the exclusion of practically everything else. Just as Kodi did. It fits his apparent teenaged design (physically, emotionally, and even in Sean Astin's youthful voice and his great voice acting...and in Kirby referring to Kodi as a "rookie").

Now, if everyone will forgive my delving into some of the "off-topic" comments made earlier, I just wanted to throw my two little pennies into the mix. I don't mean to keep steering the sucker off topic. Hope that's alright.




On these two things, you and I completely and whole-heartedly agree. And that has been argued passionately on this site over the years. There does seem to be some weird fixation among certain fans (especially teenagers and young adults) to fixate on rape, incest, bloody violence and gore, and other manner of horribly inappropriate subject matter...and also upon alternative sexuality pairings (Okay, let's not get our panties in a bunch folks. Note that I DIDN'T include this item in with what I referred to as "horribly inappropriate"...my personal feelings aside. So RELAX). I don't get it, and I find them all very disturbing to be used as fodder for telling stories with these characters and settings. But you've probably seen the usual response from such "authors" and their followers: "hey, if you don't like it, don't read it. It's called 'fan-shipping'...deal with it. It's just fan material anyway, for crying out loud." My response to that:


I completely agree. It was not Jenna who inspired Balto to set out into the wilderness to search out the team. Jenna only pointed Balto in the direction of his eventual impetus -- Rosy's gradually-worsening illness. He was moved, and spurred into action, when he saw her lying there on the bed, coughing and suffering. And when he heard Doc mention that they were going to lose "the little ones". And who immediately came to Balto's mind when Doc said that? Exactly: Rosy...not Jenna.

He did little more than duck suddenly to allow a bush he was leaning against to snap back and hit the bear in the face, and then run off towards the frozen lake, presumably in hopes of drawing the bear away from Jenna. Okay, yeah...he loves Jenna. But neither that incident with the bear, nor his seeing Jenna after the race and having a brief "first date" with her afterwards, was enough to inspire him to go off after the team. As I said above, Rosy's suffering did that. If all it took were Jenna's romantic interest in him, he certainly would have taken off in seach of the team sooner.

Yeah, I have to agree with Jersey Captain on the teen romance, fan stuff, and Balto's inspiration.

Teen Romance: I am one of those teens that don't find much comfort in such a relationship. Part of it is because of my parents and grandparents' teasing me in the past, but I also don't feel like I'm ready for such a relationship yet. I just want to graduate college (when I get to that point), get a job, and get my life on track before I do that and I have a feeling that Kodi wanted to do the same.

Fan stuff: I do agree that some of it is "don't like; don't read," but there are some times when I don't realize that I won't like it until it's too late. Yeah... I often note the users for pairings they use the most so I'll know which ones to avoid in the future.

Balto's inspiration: The disease did also affect Balto early on when he raced for a postion on the team that he had to find in a blizzard because SOME STUBBORN DOG LET HIS PRIDE GET IN THE WAY, GET THEIR BEST TRACKER KICKED OFF, AND GOT THEM LOST! GRRR! *calms down* Sorry about that outburst.

There was a race to determine the best dogs to get the medicine. Balto won, but Steele did something to reveal Balto's true heritage. The musher then rejected Balto in fear thaat he would be betrayed. Remember that scene?

Of course it's Dusty but hasn't this topic already been posted somewhere on here before. There's always so many "Kodi + Dusty or someone else?" Topics on here.

I don't know, maybe. If there was it was old, so...But I think these topics are just as bad as ask topics, which have been banned, but that's just me. The answer is obviously going to be Dusty, so what's the point in making a topic for it? It was probably established some time ago that the fans made them a pair. Same for all the rest of the characters. So these kinds of topics are well, useless in my opinion.

There are a lot of these topics. Personally I like this one and its companion topic, "Who's Better for Dusty?" because they're open-ended. The others are generally yes or no, or "do you like so-and-so." This one has lots more wiggle room.

Yeah, I have noticed that, plus I ended up introducing the Ralph/OC pairing in the companion topic.
