Actually, the more I think about it, regarding the boiler room, it may be remotely possible that the room is part of the hospital we see in the movie. I say this because, at some point, Balto takes Jenna through a boiler room to the crawl space beneath the hospital ward (and the doctor's office). I don't know if actual buildings back then had "boiler rooms" per se, rather than individual wood or coal stoves and fire places. Probably, given the nature of the region of the real Nome, it would have been more likely to see coal-burning stoves rather than wood-burning ones (as firewood was scarce in the region, and probably very expensive to purchase...and abandoned buildings or raw materials were otherwise in rather short supply).
The actual hospital would have been the Maynard-Columbus Hospital of Nome, and the doctor was Curtis Welch. Both cartoon entities had a passing physical similarity to their historical counterparts in their designs.
The actual pacing of the Balto movie does make it difficult to verify this beyond a reasonable doubt. The boiler room would more than likely have been in a gold dredge, and not in the hospital, which would have had individual coal (or wood) burning stoves and/or fireplaces. So after thinking about this, I really cannot confirm the identity of the boiler room (its location I mean) 100%.
