Well, maybe, but wouldn't it be repetitive to say "the fans feel", "the fans want" etc etc? :?

I think I'll also add this line (thanks to Glacier) :
- For the sequels, keep up with the original standards of the original movie. Always base the sequels on the original, and not on substories of the sequels.

I just wasn't sure if that applied to this kind of thing or not.

That is a good addition. :)

About the us, I have seen many petitions (in fact, the majority) that uses us...I'm not saying it's a good thing, I don't know.

Edit : Oh, and another thing : As I said, I think we should make a button as a link to the petition. I was thinking that some of you could make a little drawing to make it nicer, like...GK, for example? I would see something like Balto signing a letter, do you think it's a good idea? Or any other thing?
It would just be a small button, like that : (I made this very quickly)

Hmm I'll make a button, and I'll add a link to the petition to S.H., when it's done of course.

I Agree with you all but not the bold maked: When you make an fullscreen made movie and transfer to wide screen (like disney made with aladdin and the king of thieves) you ussuali loses the upper and lowwer part of the frames, so im against that.

And i also would like to register: if the want make balto popular, please, make it in all countries, here in brazil for example, is rare see someone that already watched the movie

Yes, but B2 & 3 are already out in full screen, so where would be the problem to make another version in widescreen? And I also think that even cut, it still look better than full screen. Then they could also make the other sequels (if there are other sequels) specifically for widescreen, unlike the two others...

And the same for every country in the world, including the US...This is one of the main points of this petition.
Besides, for that, I already wrote this in the petition :

Better distribution (for example, Wings of Change was difficult to find at its release, even in the USA, and the original Balto is still difficult to find.)

Steet: when the movie aspect ratio is set, the artists develop the cartoons (drawings) in that format
Example: Brother Bear: the second part of the movie is drawed in 2.35:1 and the frist part in 1.85:1, because that you get side blackbars when watching the frist 24 minutes of the movie (disney says that it was made ti give an ideia that the animal can see wider tha us... but indeed the want to economize drawings, hehehehe) so, coming back for balto, the sequels was drawed in 1.33:1, if the was going to re-make it in widescreen in na way that not anypartt of the frame be cutted, we will get other probles such: 1) the importan part of the scene will be too small in a normal tv 2) the re-drawed fo widescreen, will just be scenarios os something like that, they wil can't use it for action... so, in my opinion, is bettr let the b2 and b3 in the way it are now and, if they think interesting make the other baltos in wide.

Just for curiosity: If you pass from an 1.33:1 to wide 1.85:1, in each frame you need to draw more 24%. (makes the movie more expensive)

Strange theory : black bars are as much part of the film you don't have to draw, so logically it would be the contrary. But to me, I don't think it's more expensive or not, it doesn't change anything on that point : it's just that the way of directing is different. Disney did that for its Lion King sequels and some other DTV films, and I think they're right to do that. Widescreen always gives a better and "cinematic" feeling to the films, even animated.
I also say this, because I made manually widescreens versions for the Balto sequels in DivX (in the same way they disney did for the aladdin sequel, by cropping a little of the top and bottom), and it's really, really better looking...Do you want to see screenshots? Balto 3 even look like much closer to the original, that way.

So, what are we waiting for? I ask my Russian friends if they agree to sign it, and they say "YES!". And I can promise that form of petition would be on some Rus. Balto-forum. I just... can't wait to sign it! Really, we actually must bring our idea in life :)

Ok, I said I'll send it today. But they check the petitions before displaying them, so you'll have to wait a bit more before being able to sign it.

Any help is welcomed  But the button we'll make could be used for all the websites, so you wouldn't have to make one yourself.

Yes i want.

But understand what im talking about the 24% more drawing: you are just removing the upper and lower part of the frames, what im talking is make an fullscreen movie into a widescreen movie drawing the parts that was not filled before by the fullscreen mode

Let me try explain better: 1.33:1 isnot basicaly a square? and 1.85 is a retangle, so if don't want just cut the upper and lower parts of the frame, the will need to "fill" the parts of the square for it becomes an retangle

Is like that:
[ N | O | N ]
O=Original picture
N=added picture for the full become wide.

I expect you understand this theory now.

So, here's the (nearly) final version of the petition. I'll submit it today, so take the time to read it again, if there are things that seems wrong, anything, tell it now !!!

Title:

Balto: A call from the fans

Text in front page:

Balto is an animated film that never got the recognition it should have.
From year to year, the Balto community of fans has grown, at the speed of people who get to know of its existence.

We (Balto fans) feel that Universal never realized the potential of this license. We wish for the Balto license to have a better future, rather than just making sequel after sequel as has been done with the "Land Before Time" series.
We want to let Universal know that there are a lot of Balto fans out there, especially in comparison to the (still small) number of people who got the chance to see it.

This animated film should be recognized the way it ought to have been years ago: as a great classic, which had great potential, yet never became well known due to a lack of advertising, weak efforts, and wrong marketing choices (releasing the film at the same time as Toy Story was probably the biggest error possible.)
We (the fans) feel that it's not too late, and there are a few things Universal could do to exploit their license in a good way.

A list of things Universal Pictures could do, to promote Balto, includes:

- Release a special edition of the Balto DVD, with widescreen, deleted scenes, commentaries, a good cover, and the same for the sequels
- Make a Balto video game
- Restart making Balto merchandises (plushies, books, t-shirts...)
- Release the soundtracks of the sequels on a CD
- Create a TV series
- Reshow the original film in theaters
- Build a Balto ride in one of Universal theme parks
- Make a box set with the three Balto films
- Better distribution, worldwide (for example, Wings of Change was difficult to find at its release, even in the USA, and the original Balto is still difficult to find.)
- As for the sequels for upcoming Balto movies, keep up with the original standards from the first movie. Always base the sequels on the original, not substories.

We would be glad if Universal would realize just one of these "fan wishes", because it would say that even big companies like Universal can understand the fans. We also think that both Universal and the fans and customers would win if such things were to happen.

Of course, you don't have to be interested in everything previously listed to sign this petition. It is mostly here to let Universal know that there are more Balto fans than they think, and for that reason they should sometimes listen to us.

So, if you like Balto and think that it deserves to be more popular,
sign the petition!

And the additional questions asked in the form:

Would you buy some of the products previously listed if they were released? Yes/No
What are your feelings about the Balto films?
Any other comments?
