Smart? Smart about what? Smart about Balto was being tested by his mother and he went through all the stuff that she threw at him just to find Aleu and at the end it was "tough love"?

One simple reason: He's the Main character of the film, the "Hero" if you wanna call him that, it'd be pretty pointless for him to die, considering the movie was called "Balto"

Yeah that sorta sounds rude and/or mean, but I assure you, it isn't. It just took plain and simple Logic to figure it out and write it down.
Of course he can collide face first into a rock with true blunt force and get up and be okay, Of course he can get into a fight with a Grizzly bear thats 10x His size, then fall into a Freezing river almost drown and then 4 mins later bounce back, and lets not forget the Falling down a cliff with no issue.

Even steele was limping around after his Accident..but not balto, that'd just be silly.

You really gotta learn how movies work. Once again I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I'm just honest.

But on a "Fan-Based" view, maybe Determination? I don't know really, but I will say that the "White Wolf" In the original balto was never intended to be his mom. More so a Representation of his "Wolf Side" Seeings how he was constantly ashamed of it, so that happening made him realise that his wolf side wasn't a flaw, or weakness, but more-so an Advantage or strength. And thats how he Somehow found his way UP that cliff..

I will own up to being the one to click "None Of the Above" Mainly because I think you guys are reading alittle too into it, its just a cartoon, it doesn't need to be broken down and annalised.

But to stay on topic I will put my 0.2 in, on what I think!

I think Perhaps, the "Want" he had for Jenna played a major part in him going and getting the medication for Rosie to begin with, Dudes do crazy things to get girls to notice them, and Balto is not different apparently. Seeings how he was given Human emotion in the film, I am gonna treat it as though he is such.

Also, perhaps alittle of the "White Wolf" thing played a little bit of a major part at the end, though As I've said before, Aniu is or was not originally to be the "White Wolf' You saw in the original, it was just an apparition (Spelling?), So I think "Universal" used that to their advantage in the second to make it more relatable (A bit off- topic sorry).

Because he wasn't pround of his "Wolf Heritage" in the original, that "Wolf" was a representation of his wolf side, Just when he was about to give up. POOF there it was, and BAM he got his Muse back. Makes sense to me, hopefully it will to you as well..

But as far as "Invinsable" goes, no.... I don't believe he was, he was simply the "Hero" of the story, thus he was surely bound to be the victor in the end.

I think you completely hit the nail on the head, twice.

I voted "None of the above" simply because it's an animated film. Not only that, but I could ask how Steele managed to survive his fall? It was really all played in so that Balto could be seen as a Hero...

And probably because they needed ideas to keep it interesting.
