Reckendorf crouched behind one of the many trees that surrounded the group. She had been listening intently as the group slowly got over the shock of being transformed. A twig snapped behind her and she turned her head to look at what might be lurking in the undergrowth. Then, she spotted the familiar coat and shape of a coyote. As she watched, the coyote inched closer to the group and leaped at the closest animal, the horse. Stepping away from the tree, she watched as the horse kicked the coyote square in the stomach - stunning it. One of the humans ran over to it's still body and swung it over his shoulder. The group began to debate on what to do with the creature's body.

The horse had broke into a run but came to a quick stop, picking up a piece of paper. She turned back to the rest of them and waved the paper in the air. Reckendorf padded over to the others and cleared her throat - hoping to catch the attention of the others. "Are you mad?" She paused a moment, the strange sound that came out of her mouth did not sound like her voice. She cleared her throat again and continued,"Swinging that predator over your shoulder as though it was but a backpack!" In the land behind her parents' house, she had encountered countless coyotes and knew how they acted. Drew had the animal over his shoulder and when the it awoke, his neck would be the first place the coyote would lock its jaws on.

Drew nodded after listening to a few of the group's suggestions. He turned towards the opposite direction Dana had gone in: away from the group. Towards Reckendorf, he chuckled softly. "Hey, Reck. Long time no see," he joked. He hated the air of the group... well maybe not hated. But disliked at best. It was too... still. Too serious. Drew believed maybe it need a little lightning up. But that would most likely be the only moderate joke he cracked for a while.

The air was what it was. Serious. Making it into a joke, in retrospect, wasn't a great idea. And so, Drew stayed quiet in that aspect. However, he had to respond to Reckendorf's comment. "Perhaps I am, but it was to protect the others." Thinking now of what the others were at about the same time (the coyote being able to swing and bite his neck if it came to), Drew nearly winced. But, he managed to maintain his composure and say, "I'd rather my neck be chewed through than any of yours."

When he finally got to a good spot, he stopped walking. He heaved the coyote's nearly lifeless body and set it down as gently as he could on the leaves a bit further off from the group. But it was still pretty much within hearing distance. "I think I'll just do both. Set it in the middle," He said, referring to the others' suggestions.

Then he walked back to see Dana holding up a piece of paper. He grabbed it tentatively and said, "Can you read it?" And took a look at it himself. As a fox, he had been able to read slightly... if not barely. Animals like himself weren't built to read and scrawl letters, but he had tried his luck at it just to see if he could manage. And he had a little... but now, it was suddenly a heck of a lot easier. He was able to make out the letters fine. It was surprising, breathtaking to be able to do so.

He took a look at Dana and then back at the others.

Ooc:// Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been busy. I'll try to post more often. promise!

Avienda didn't even flinch during the coyote attack, but she never took her eyes from the scene. Although she had grown used to her animal comrades, she had never seen one of these canine creatures before. She did not have much time to observe it though, before Drew went into action. Feeling steadier on her legs now, her feline curiousity urged her to take a closer look at the coyote. She took a few steps to follow Drew when Dana came galloping back from wherever she had gone to. It took her a few seconds to realize she held something in her mouth. It reminded Avie of a strange leaf with dark lines all around it. Her brain connected the sight to the word "paper," a word she had picked up inside the lab.

By the time Avienda comprehended that the black sribbles on the paper were probably words that she had taught herself to slightly read, Drew had already returned and held the paper in his hands. With all thoughts of the coyote out of her mind, Avie's full focus came to the little piece of paper that Drew was disifering. Cautiously, Avienda walked the couple of steps to where Drew and Dana were standing, her feet making more noise than she was used to, which annoyed her to no end.

Finally, she stretched up on her toes to look over Drew's shoulder and down at the paper, but it evaded her sight from the angel Avie was looking, attempting to see over Drew's shoulder but also down at the same time. She lifted herself higher on her toes, but without the help of her tail, she quickly lost of her balance, stumbling forward and catching herself against Drew's back. She quickly righted herself and took several steps away from Drew, crossing her arms over her chest and quickly asking, "So what does it say?"

She felt a tingling in her cheeks that she now recognized as her face growing red with embarrassment. It seemed to be happening alot since they left the lab. What was it the humans called it? A blush? Well, whatever it was called, it was really annoying.

OOC:// Gah, sorry guys I haven't been too active with this rp ;~;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After Drew took the paper from her mouth, Dana whinnied. "I don't know. I'm a horse, I can't read that." She leaned her long neck to look at the paper and was correct in saying that she couldn't read what the paper read. It was all a bunch of jumbled black lines put together to her. Though she still had her human brain, her horse eyes could not register the information in front of her, and so she could not understand what was written on it. She felt a bit proud of herself though. She found something that might be of important information for them, possibly helping them try and regain their own bodies. Dana did a couple of light stomps into the ground and snorted with pride.
To the rest of them, Dana whinnied, "Does anyone know how to read?" I'd say I would but I can't see it, she thought to herself. Dana moved back a bit so that her huge size wasn't making it harder for the others to approach Drew to read the paper. Her eyes darted to the coyote. Though it was certain it could've been dead, Dana was still a bit figity around it. D*mn me, I'm not scared of no coyote! But though that was what her human mind believed, her horse body had other news for her.
When she saw Avienda stumble into Drew, she couldn't help but wag her head with laughter. If she was still human, Dana might've made a remark about the accidental stumble, but though she could still say it, she felt it wouldn't have the same effect coming from a horse's mouth as it would coming from a human's. So Dana just stopped herself from laughing by giving a somewhat violent snort. She laid her ears back then in embarrassment and just decided to remain quiet. She had done enough for the day.
Reckendorf felt a strong breeze ruffle her unnatural form's fur and a gust of leaves swarmed around her. Shaking the leaves off her body, Reckendorf padded over to Drew, who had set down the coyote a little ways away, and peered at the paper on his hand. Beside her, Dana was staring at the body of the coyote and kept fidgeting where she stood. The horse let out a snort then lowered her hears in embarrassment. Turning her attention away from the paper for a moment, Reckendorf looked Dana up and down and a thought appeared in her mind. "I have an idea, Dana. After we find out what this paper means, we'll find you room to run. You have the uncontrollable urge to run, correct?"
As she waited the horse's response, Reckendorg looked back at the paper in Drew's hands. The letters which had once been so familiar to her now looked distorted in the eyes of her new body. Blinking several times, her eyes finally focused enough for her to read the headline at the top of the paper. "Annual Celino Fire Festival - The Town of the Scorching Hot Death Valley!" She read aloud, tilting her head to one side questioningly.
Ooc//: Judging by the first post, I assumed that they were in Death Valley and I made up a small town in the very middle of it - about fifteen miles from where they were released.
As Drew finally managed to read the rest of the paper, he felt a slight push at his back. When he turned to see what it had been, he smiled gently. It was Avie. He didn't laugh, however. For some reason, he was more concerned on the paper, and the fact that he didn't want to embarrass her further. So, he let the smile stay for a few seconds before saying, eyes still on her in a nice, friendly way, "Well..." He turned a bit to see everyone now, "Like Reckendorf said, it's the Annual Celino Fire Festival... in Death Valley. On the bottom there are a bunch of numbers, a wind direction, and some numbers in front of the word street... I'm guessing it's a location?"
He pondered for a moment. These humans really did have an odd way of telling where they wanted to go... and then it hit him. Humans. "You guys!" He said, his face lighting up like a school student who just got an idea of what to do for a class project. "I bet this is where the scientists are!" After a few seconds, he decided to explain. "It could only be written by humans, and if none of us did it, well... we're in a pretty remote location if you were to take people into account..."
For some reason, after a few minutes, he found that his eyes wandered back to Avie. For some reason, he seemed to like her a lot. Some kind of aura she had, he could only guess. Though he waited for everyone else's responses too.
Avienda raised an eyebrow at Reckendorf's words, the things she stated having no meaning to her. She glanced between Drew and Dana, hoping one them would have some kind of explanation as to why this thing (festival?) was so important. And she listened to what Drew said, though she didn't get the excitement that was obviously overwhelming Drew. When his eyes came back to meet hers, she turned her eyes away, thinking about what he was suggesting. Going to this place and possibly finding the scientists that has done this to them in the first place.
"Wait," Avie finally said before anyone could get too optimstic. "Where would we even want to find the scientists again. They threw us out here for some type of reason that we may not understand but they must their reasoning important." She turned around to face the rest of the group as well. "They are the ones who did this to us. Why would they help us now?"
Walking back to Drew, she took the paper from his hands and squinted at it, seeing the still unfamiliar words printed there just as Drew had read them. "What is a festival anyways?" she asked, tossing the paper back to Drew.
OOC:// Ambassadeur Polar - Very good idea! And everyone else is welcome to make locations for this rp if they want to, since we're in a remote valley
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Turning her head to Reckendorf, Dana felt a bit shocked to be acknowledged by her. Even more so, she was shocked to see Reckendorf with them, after not seeing her with the group earlier. Hearing Reckendorf's words, though, comforted her, and it made her horse blood even more excited. "I guess that's why I've been fidgeting so much today," said Dana. "Bah, and I never cared for running when I was in my own body." Her own leg rose and she kicked the dirt. "I guess a good run would be good for me."

When Reckendorf read aloud the paper, Dana flicked her ears, to signal that she was curious why a paper like that would be lying around. Then when Drew and Avienda made their points, Dana stepped forward and stood tall, ready to speak hers. "But it's something," she said. "What do we do then? I say we should look at this fair thing. It could be where the scientists are, or it could be just a regular festival. Besides, should we just stand around? We don't even know where to go." Dana snorted and shook her head. "I think that it'd be an idea to go. It's better than just standing around here waiting for another option to come and hit us." She then smiled, or smiled in the only way a horse can. "Besides, it could be fun. I've been to a festival once when I was still human and it was a lot of fun. Of course now..." She looked down at herself. "It might be just a whee harder to have fun."

Ooc:// Thanks ^^

"It is going to be difficult for all of us to get into the town. I seriously doubt that the people there will welcome an otter, a wild cat, a horse, and a cheetah. Drew, Avienda, and Stripes pretty much have a free ticket but the rest of us are going to need a little help." Reckendorf reminded the others. It wasn't often you saw a strange variety of animals walking through town casually. Dana might have a bit of an advantage, and Joe too, but what about her and Travis?

Turning to look at the rest of them, Reckendorf stayed silent - thinking. The only other animals in the group were Dana, Joe, and Travis. Pricking her ears, Reckendorf smiled and turned back to them, "I think I know how we can get in!"

Drew was in deep thought, trying to figure out what they could or should do. He turned towards Avie and said, "Well, they may have had no choice but to throw us out here. Though, it doesn't matter why they did. They may not want to help us, but they're not the ones who truly changed us. It was those things they use... those contraptions. The metal ones..." He wasn't sure what they were called exactly. "They're the things that made us how we are, so why can't we use them to turn ourselves back?"

He turned back around to see the others, too, and said, "As for getting into the festival... whatever that is..." He wasn't sure what that was either, but from the looks of it, it sounded something like a party area or a public place. Then he remembered hearing something from some of the animals when he wandered a bit too far towards human lands, once. "Wait! Festivals... do they have people in red and white stripes? Or tamers of 'beasts'?" He said the word beasts in a different way because he knew that no animal was truly a beast. That's just what humans called them.

"Cause if they do, couldn't the others act like one of the animals they bring in? And those of us who look like man, we can act as the tamers... I've heard of animals from those in the edges of the forest who were caught and attempted to be tamed. They were taken to things called fairs, circuses, and, if I'm correct, festivals."

OOC:// Bleh, no muse >.<

Dana's head was going back and forth between the debates of everyone as they were struggling to decide whether they should stay or go. As she listened to Reckendorf's voice, she had to agree that it might be a bit of a struggle to smuggle everyone into the town. But when Drew's point was made, Dana found herself agreeing with him. "That's a good idea and all," she whinnied, "but how are we going to be able to pull this off? We gotta disguise everyone who's a human and they gotta act like a regular tamer without letting anyone on that something is wrong. Besides, we gotta act like we didn't just end up getting stranded in the middle of nowhere like we are right now."

Reckendorf nodded approvingly as Drew made his suggestion. He had a very good idea, and it might just work. When she heard Dana's worries, she turned to the horse and tilted her head to the side, thinking of a solution. "Well, everyone who got turned into a human can bring us into the town, acting as though they are bringing the tamer's animals to him or her. Then one of the humans can slip off and try to find the scientists or someone that they think might be able to help. Dana and Joe won't be hard so sneak in because anyone would think one of the humans was riding a horse instead of driving a car and even though he is a wild cat, he could pass as a pet. Travis and I would be the "tamed" animals. Once inside the festival, we can look for the real tamer's animals and find an empty crate for us to hide in." She suggested.
