Cody chuckled and said while rubbing the back of his head "Yeah. I guess so. You know I like you. You are very nice to me. Nobody has ever done that. I have always been the oddball out until now. And you're a total babe too. I must be really lucky right now because no babes would even think of coming around me."

Karma's cheeks flushed red. "Um, thanks?" Being called a "babe" was a new experience for her. It was kind of weird, because usually she bit the person's head off if they called her that. But this time she resisted the urge, playing with her sleeve awkwardly. "So, uh, we should probably go get some food now, huh?"

Cody sighed and said "Yeah. Sorry for what I said. It made you feel uncomfortable. I can sense it." He looked out of his window and said sorrowfully "It must be nice to be a normal werewolf. All that freedom. No worry of something that you might do that is out of your own control."

"It's okay," Karma shrugged. "And I guess I never thought of not having control...it must be hard." Realizing what she said might be taken as insensitive, she blinked. "Oh, sorry. I didn't mean it like that..."

Cody sighed deeper and said more to himself than to anyone who might hear him "Why did I have to be cursed when nobody else is? It's not fair. The first mess up was my last. I didn't even have a second chance or even half a chance to correct myself."

"I'm sorry," Karma repeated, her voice softer this time.

Cody looked over at Karma and asked "Were you out of control during your first moon?"

"No..." Karma said, thinking back. "I don't think so."

Cody sighed and said "Are males more bloodthirty then or something? I just want to know why I lost control."

"Maybe it does have to do with gender, or just individuals, or something," Karma said.

Cody looked down and said sadly "So you're saying that I am actually a monster. That I was bound to hurt people if I ever did shift."

"No! I'm not saying that at all. You were cursed, and it wasn't your choice. It wasn't...karma, or anything," Karma said. "It was someone else's bad choice that made you like this. You had no say in the matter. You weren't destined to become this, and I don't think you're destined to stay like this."

It was obvious from her tone she meant what she said, and her green eyes locked onto his with a firm gaze. "I think if you lost control, you can get it back. We will reverse the curse."

Cody opened his mouth at what she said and asked "What do you mean by we? Why are you helping me like it actually mattered to you?"

"Because it does matter to me. I don't know why, but something about you caught my interest the first time I heard you howl." Karma took a breath, then continued.

"Besides, I'm a sucker for a sob story," she added. "So I'm gonna help you whether you like it or not."

Cody smiled and said "What if I am suicidal? What would you do then? Would you try to help me out of my depression?"
