Coby laughed as he sensed the shape of a vehicle; still on. "Man those guys were stupid." he said simply.

Malk squinted and spotted the running car. He grinned, headings towards it. "Not that any of us know how to drive or anything."

Coby pfft'd and ran over to it, yanking the driver's seat door open. "Call dibs at the wheel!" he said loudly, trying to annoy Malk.

"HA!" Malk laughed as he pushed Coby aside. "Good one! I'm sixteen, so I'm technically legal to drive, so there!" Malk paused for a moment, feeling stupid. Suddenly, he boomed, "And you're blind!" Hey, it was easy to forget.

Liera turned on the begging face, looking at Malk pleadingly. "Pleeease? Can I drive? Please?"

Mara's tail twitched in amusement at Liera's "bambi eyes". She slid into the driver's seat while Malk was pushing Coby, Liera was begging, and Coby was being pushed. Guess I'm driving, she thought to Coby, buckling herself in before anyone could argue.

Malk was about to open his mouth and say something, but then he spotted Mara out of the corner of his eye, climbing into the driver's seat. He ran his fingers through his brown hair. "I guess the decision's been made." He mumbled angrily to himself, knowing he wouldn't be able to say no to either of them, and trudged to the backseat.

Coby chuckled at Mara's move, and then reluctantly opened the passenger seat door, all the while smirking at Malk, who didn't look happy at all.

Liera sighed in resignation; there was no moving Mara now. She sat next to Malk in the back, eyeing the wheel wistfully.


With everyone in the car, Mara tingled with anticipation. She had never driven a car before - none of them had - but it was sure to be fun. She took her hat out of her pocket and slid it on before driving; someone might have gotten a bit freaked out if they say someone with cat ears. She then pushed down the gas pedal experimentally; it shot forward as if shot out of a cannon, and she lightened up a little immediatly.

A small sound of pleasure escaped her as she drove away from their smoking house, and the Eraser's inside. A few miles down, and she veered sharply to turn onto a small, barely-used road.
It was bumpy, especially with her newly-found "skills" at driving, but Mara was enjoying the heck out of it.


"Mara, slow down!" Liera said, gripping Malk's arm and the edge of her seat hard.

Mara shook her head, smiling widely. This was fun!

Coby gripped the edges of his seat for dear life as Mara made the car shoot forward. "Are headed for anything?!" he pleaded, desperately wishing he hadn't chosen shotgun.

Malk, his blue eyes so wide you couldn't even see the blue in them anymore, managed frightenedly, "Do you know where you're going, Mara?"

Mara shrugged. Coby? Which way am I supposed to be going? she asked, a bit sheepishly. Oh, and tell the other's I'm not going to crash. A pause ensued. I think.

Coby had already gotten a map out of the glove compartment, handing it to the backseat-dwellers. "She won't crash," he assured them, hoping in God's name that he was right. "And are there any places you can see that we can go to for a little while?"

Malk snatched the map and proceeded to turn every which way. He finally settled when he was holding it upside-down. He eyed it like an icthyologist eyes a new species of insect. "Hmm," he said, seeming to forget about Mara's driving for a moment. "Are there any secluded areas we can go to?"

Liera took the map from him, turning it so it was no longer upside-down. "Uh, there's a mountain nearby. It has a few trails and stuff, but it seems kinda out of the way," she said, staring at the map.

Mara tried to glance at the map, and ended up nearly hitting a tree. As it was, she knocked one of the side-mirrors off. Oops, she thought guiltily, vowing to keep an eye on the road from now on.

Coby nodded, then Mara swerved and he death-gipped his seat again. He said calmly but shakily, "Keep y-your eyes on the r-road, M-Mara."

Malk raised an eyebrow at Liera's proposition. "Alright, but how do we get there?"

Liera squinted at the tiny lines. "Take the next left turn," she instructed. "Slowly," she added as an afterthought, not entirely trusting Mara not to flip them over.

Mara nodded, though only to the first part. She turned, going up on two wheels. They bounced a little as the car settled back on its four wheels.

"Don't do that," Liera said faintly, her face white.

Coby yelped as the car veered on two wheels, and he covered his ears with his hands. I can't watch! he exclaimed through his mind.

Malk kept his teeth clenched, eyes widened and latched to the armrests of his seat. "How long is the ride to the mountain?" Malk asked shakily.

Liera winced as she said the words. "About half an hour." With Mara driving, could they even survive that long?

Coby clicked his seat belt on, wondering why he hadn't thought of it before. "We'll be fine, everyone!" he called back.

"No, we won't!" Liera moaned, beginning to feel a bit carsick, on top of being terrified. "Mara, you're thirty miles over the speed limit!"

Mara regretfully slowed down, though not by much.

Coby sent a thought only to Liera and Malk that said, I think I should have driven. Then, he said to Mara, "Don't worry, just keep a cool head."

"If we don't lose them first." Malk grumbled, holding his stomach.
