Tara swiftly leapt out of the tree, landing perfectly and gently, eyes wide and curious. She held the small bird in the crook of her arm, petting it's head still.
Ellis laid one look on the girl who just entered their territory and his heart skipped a beat. He slid dow the tree trunk and kept his eyes locked on her. "Hi," he said nervously, "Who are you guys?"
Kyler squeezed Damien's finger, as she was starting to feel like they were going to need to run. "Um, I'm Kyler." she said. "Who are you?"

Carmen, from behind the tree, looked up at the intruders and yelled, "What the heck do you two think you're doing?" She edged her voice in steel, adding to her mean tone. "This is our territory, so you guys can get lost!"
When Damien slid his arm around Kyler, Ellis just snickered, his arms folded. "I think we should make friends." he yelled back at Carmen, still keeping his gaze on Kyler.
Kyler was getting really creeped out by everything, especially the way this boy was looking at her, and even more by how Damien slid his arm around her. She looked at her friend and whispered, "What are you doing?"
Tara moved her bare feet slowly, still stroking the little gray bird with her forefinger. She swallowed nervously, then reached up and tugged on the end of Damien's tie, looking up at him curiously. "What's your name? she said quietly, barely audible.

Tara smiled a little bit, the ends of her tiny mouth curling up a bit. "My name's Tara." she answered, her voice close to a whisper.
Kyler whispered back, "Maybe we should just leave."
Ellis heard her whisper to Damien, and he said, "No, you should stay. I insist. Excuse my very-rude friend over there." he gestured to Carmen.

Kyler began to walk away, latching her hand onto Damien's elbow. She didn't feel like taking these people's comments anymore. "C'mon." she insisted. "Let's get out of here."
Ellis lunged forward and grabbed Kyler's other arm. "No!" he said. Now he was beginning to feel the connection between these mysterious people. And it wasn't something normal. It was something elemental. He looked up at Damien. "I know who you are now." he said in a hushed tone. "And I know you're supposed to be here. And if I'm right, and you're the one we've all been waiting for, then you can feel it too. Now, I kno-"
Kyler cut Ellis off by swinging her leg around and nailing him with a kick in the face. "Let go of me!" she screeched as he went down, his lip bleeding.

Kyler didn't like to be touched by people she didn't feel comfortable around, and Kyler really didn't comfortable around Ellis. Then, as if in realization of what just happened, she clung to Damien's arm, as if she was about to faint and needed something to support her.
Ellis sat up immediately, as if he was used to being kicked in the face. He touched his lip where it was bleeding, then seemed to forget about it and went back to Damien. "As I was saying before I was..." he switched his gaze to Kyler. "...so rudely interrupted," His voice didn't sound mad; it sounded like he thought getting kicked by her was hot. He continued. "I know who you are, kid. And I know you know that you belong here."
Tara piped up in her sweet voice, "With us."

Ellis stood up tall, stiffening his arms. "This is what I'm talking about!" At that moment, all the huge boulders and dead trees in the forest rose up and gravitated towards him, his eyes blazing. The boulders circled around him along with the dead wood, and he shouted, "Carmen!"
Carmen, with a look of boredom on her face, pointed at his earth circle and bursted flame at it, setting all the wood ablaze.
"Tara!"
Tara, still stroking the bird, smiled and waved her hand in a circular motion. In such a small movement, she caused the sky to turn dark, and a minor tornado take place, there at the lake. The clouds rumbling and leaves and water being blown around by the tornado, flaming trees and rocks circling around Ellis.
Kyler squeezed her eyes shut when the tornado began, the wind whipping around her, stinging her cheeks and deafening her ears. "What's going on?!" she shouted over the noise of the wind.
"We control everything!" Ellis shouted over the noise of the tornado. "We have more power than any other humans! We were created this way, and we've always stuck together, but while we can only control one element, our leader can control all of them! But our leader was lost long ago!" He smiled. "And now we've found him."
