"I"m Rika," she said, her brown eyes warm. If it had bee one of the older dogs, she would be wary, but this pup was no older than the one she had rescued, Logan.

At his question, her slim head twisted as she looked around the grimy room. "As soon as the door opens, we run for it. They've made a fatal mistake in making us fight; now we can fight back." Her voice was low as she spoke, a growl edging her words.

Niska smiles slightly at the thought of escaping, then she looks up at the greyhound and says, "nice to meet you, you seem nice," Niska wags her tail lightly. She looks at the door, mourning it to open. Niska looks up at Rika and asks softly, "should we hide and let the trainer leave the door way or should we just run under the trainers legs?"

Logan nodded. He quickly told his name to the newcomer. "My name's Logan." Quickly looking back up to Rika, Logan tried to find a way to hide, but didn't seem to find a good enough spot. Just then, he felt cold hands on him. The hands of human. He yelped in surprise. suddenly, he began to fear for his life. The man who carried him seemed so angry that he didn't even pay notice to the other dogs that were escaping.

He was taken into dark room where the man grabbed a wooden plank and started beating the shepherd puppy. Logan yelped in pain, for the man wasn't stopping. "You'll learn not to run next time, mutt!" he shouted. Logan tried to crawl away but it was no use. His leg wounds reopened, his blood flowed everywhere. Make it end... he prayed. Please...

Niska stands in shock as the man grabs logan, then she hear logan's yelps and grows furious. Niska growls loudly and runs into the room, she leaps up and bites down on the cruel man's shoulder, he curses and hits her with the board, Niska whimpers and falls to the ground. She growls again and pushes herself to her paws. She lunges and bites down on the man's ankle, he swats at Niska with the board, he clips her shoulder causing her to yelp, she goes sliding across the floor and smacks hard into the wall, she trys to get back up but she yelps in pain and falls back down.

The only thought running through the Rika's head was; He is going to regret ever being born.

The greyhound lunged, her paws seeming to blur slightly as she dashed towards him. A low, threatening growl ripped through the air, starting her her stomach and finally exiting through her muzzle.

While she had promised herself never to fight other dogs unless necessary, she didn't have qualms against injuring humans lke the scum she was now attacking; they deserved every bit of pain.

Niska lifted her head and saw Rika dash into the room. She wanted to help the greyhound fight so bad, she wanted to make the human regret hitting her, make him pay. Niska stood up and rushed the human, ignoring te excruciating pain coming from her shoulder, Niska bit down on the evil man's achilles tendon, he cryed out in pain and struck Niska with the board again in her bad shoulder, Nisk yelped loudly, louder then she thought she could ever yelp, she hit the wall with a thud again, Niska was now positive it was broken because the slightest of movement resulted in piercing pain.

Niska growled and tryed to get back up, not wanting to give up, but the pain was worse than she could have ever imagined, she fell straight down to the floor again as if it was a magnet and she was the crippled metal being pulled to it. She layed there, helpless, hoping the man didnt try to hurt her again.

Logan's entire body was covered with blood trickling down in various areas. The pup had gotten beat up pretty badly before Rika (by now he considered her like his savior) came in. He was thankful that both Niska and Rika had risked their lives to save him. But now, as Rika fought the human, the young german shepherd finally realized just how badly Niska was hurt. He limped over to her, trying to help get her up, but it seemed there was no use. "Stay there, for now." He said gently. He then proceeded to try and help Rika out. The man tried to swing the board at him several times, but he had only gotten Logan once. That, although painful, wasn't enough to fully knock him down (luckily). So, he kept fighting.

Niska nodded slightly and obeyed the shepherd's orders and stayed where she was. She watched the man trying to hurt her friends. She growled, wanting to help, not wanting them to get hurt anymore, but she knew if tryed to help it would make her shoulder worse. She layed still on the ground wanting the pain to go away so she could help, but she knew it wouldn't for quite some time.

With a final bite and snarl, the man collapsed onto the floor, cowering. She snapped her teeth at him one more time as a warning, then turned to Niska. "Niska, I can carry you. It won't be exactly comfortable, but you won't injure yourself further, either." She faced Logan. "You can walk, right?"

Logan watched as the man basically crumbled to peices on the floor. His wide eyes followed his every movement until he felt he and the others were safe. "Thanks again, Rika. I don't know how I'd have even made it past that other dog if it weren't for you..." he trailed off. When she asked if he could walk, he simply replied, "Yeah, I can."

Niska looked up at Rika with her eyes filled with thankfulness but she knew she had to try to get used to putting strength on her shoulder. Niska replied back, "Thanks for the offer but i want to try to walk," Niska slowly stood up on her paws, holding up her injured leg and shoulder, she hobbled to Rika and Logan and said, "Where are we going to go?" Niska winced at the pain from her left side but she could take it for now. She tried putting pressure on her left side but she immediately picked it back up. Niska looked at Rika and Logan waiting for a reply.

"I may know a place," Rika said mysteriously. "We'll be safe there, at least." The greyhound's brown eyes narrowed as she saw Niska wince at putting only the slightest weight on her injured leg. "And we'll be too slow with you walking like that, Niska. We shouldn'tt risk injuring it anymore, anyways." Wothout anotehr word, she picked up the pup by the scruff of her neck, ,amaging to mutter, "Follow me" to Logan.

Logan nodded simply and followed the greyhound whom he now considered his savior.
