Anybody think Avril would do good if she were out at that day in age? No. She's a pop singer. It's just not her style. And I think Evanescence are depressing, and Amy's voice bothers me. The song is fine the way it is. And I love how you're suggesting 'up-to-date' singers who weren't even popular at the time - if they were even singers then. Especially metal singers. I mean, are you serious? That just doesn't fit AT ALL, and would've been HORRIBLE.

I think Toby Keith may have made a decent other option. His voice is very American-sounding and he can do the emotional tone pretty well. (Like in his song "Cryin' for me").
I personally don't think any of the popular singers nowadays could pull it off well, they just sound way too pop-ish or metal-ish and it wouldn't suit Balto.

Toby Keith?! Im sorry UK, but I think there are a lot better singers out there. A lot of country voices tend to be too low or a bit off key (Keith Urban for example).
What about the lead from Styx? Cant think of his name at the moment.
OR- Maybe the frontman from MCR

WHAT? The lead singer of My Chemical Romance?
If that's who you mean, you're COMPLETELY off on who should sing a BALLAD. 0.o

*shakes head* You don't get it, do you?
Nobody wants to hear a kind of teen-ish sounding voice in a ballad when the guy would be 18, and the band My Chemical Romance wouldn't even exist.
And as for the lead singer of Buckcherry, is from what you say, he's no better than Gerard Way, then he wouldn't work well either.
And for your information, "Sleep" is NO WHERE NEAR a ballad. And he still doesn't sound right for the part in "Disenchanted".

Well now when you really think about it, I guess Buckcherry would do fine, like the "Cream" song.
