Yeah!!!!!!! I am sick of the gross stud characters, mate talks are not allowed!

Hmm, alright, let me see if I'm understanding your full argument - you think that no matter someone's abilities, they can make a nicely rounded character that shows effort and love was put into it, right? That's what I'm getting. I hope I haven't been misunderstanding you, sorry if I have!

But my belief is that characters are fine in rudimentary stages. If the characters were made just to be made, then they get deactivated.

Just as we don't look at a sketch and disapprove of it for not being completed, I think a character is fine if it too is in the sketch stage. We can disagree you know, I don't care, it's not the end of the world... o_O

It CAN be taught. That's exactly what I was saying and you were arguing with us on it -_-

It doesn't take ability to make a character that shows love and effort >_<
Good characters and characters with effort and love put into them are two completely different things. I mean, sure, a nicely made character would be good, but we can't make every single person here make good characters

I'm afraid I agree with Cat, Cobaltie & Sardonyx.

We're fine with characters made with, say, pictures that aren't masterpieces or bios that aren't 3 paragraphs in length.

Characters that are coloured on the same popular lineart with:
"this is my character, she's balto's daughter 3-times removed. Everyone loves her coz shes related to balto and all the boys want her, but shes not settled on one of them yet, she likes teasing them teehee"
As their bio it's just wearing.
More so when the creator of said character spams the shoutbox and request topics asking for people to draw/render it and thinks it's omgsopopular.

And I look at it from both sides of the spectrum; a person who looks at and creates characters AND a fan character mod. A job I left because of the sheer amount of repeat characters and drama it created.

I wrote out that dum long art-improvement metaphor because I agree that no matter your abilities, you can improve things you make, whether it's a picture or a character.

BUT I don't think those improvements are necessary, and what counts is that the creator is satisfied with what they've made.

I agree that's a lame character, it's not one I would make for myself. But as I said earlier, what's really the difference between a lame popular character and a lame nice character?
"This is my character, he is a dog in nome, he is a really great guy and protective of females and kind of shy around people he doesn't know but once he opens up you have a loyal friend for life"

I don't think you're getting it. Anyone can put effort into something and even if it isn't great, thats OK. Which is what we're saying. I'm sure everyone remembers that drawing of their family they drew when they were 5, the one that took up 2 hours. Looking at it now, it's not amazing compared to what you're drawing now, but it's the sort of work that could be accepted here, just because effort was put into it.

Lame popular character doesn't necessarily have to be nasty though. Just the majority of them are. They can also be popular nice, as in "FRIENDS WITH EVERYBODY!!! EVERYBODY LOVES THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SO SWEET!!!". Those are annoying too.

That example is a bit flawed. Firstly a character with that short a bio would not be allowed XD Plus, that could actually be a decent character
If he's a bit protective over girls he could come off as a possessive jerk
If he's shy he could be quiet and others may think he is weird

I know that is kinda "extremeing" (or whatever the word is) some of those traits but that makes it a character with good qualities and flaws too with a little extra description, and it wasn't that much extra either!

Instead of just "nasty stuck up arrogant breeder" (all flaws/Anti-Sue) or "lovely sweet friends with everyone" (Mary Sue)

This is annoying to me as well. I see it all the freaking time, these characters:

She is popular with all the dogs in Nome because they all love her and she had pups with Steele and this dog and also this dog and this bird and this IGUANA-

I don't understand why everyone has to have a character that's friends with EVERYONE or NO ONE. They turn their fantasy of a boyfriend/girlfriend into a character they think everyone will love. Observe:

Mike is all black with perfect silver eyes, and everyone thinks he's wierd because he doesn't like to talk much. He gets in all kinda of trouble, and he's the bad boy of Nome, rivaling Steele. However, one day, a pretty female dog named Belinda walked up to him and they became friends quickly, soon becoming mates and having four pups.

Let's say Belinda is a fursona, and let's take a closer look at this:

*Sounds like a fetish to me.

*Sounds like the perfect situation for a 'pretty female dog' to walk up to him.

*Strong and silent type. 'Nuff said.

*Again, this 'Mike' is starting to sound like every girl's dream. HOW ORIGINAL!

*The person who created this fursona is either desperate, or expecting some random person to PM them and say, "Hey, I'm like Mike. Wanna be my girlfwiend?!"

Also, let's say this is Belinda's profile:

Belinda is thin and has beautiful blue eyes and a silky brown coat, and all the guys of Nome secretly have a crush on her. She's friends with Sylvie, Dixie, Jenna, and basically all the girls in Nome because they all want to be her. Steele tried to make a move on her a few times, but she figured she could do way better, and rejected him each time. When she found Mike, she knew he was the one and they lived happily ever after with four darling pups.


*Watch the creator be a nerdy white girl with her life's story all written according to Runescape or freaking Club Penguin xDD

Yeah I know but are we allowed to make Balto fan characters like members or Nava's pack or our versions of Balto's sons or daughters but with more love put into their bio?But I do get what you are saying about Aleu though^That gets annoying and same lineart?Why not RENDER or draw for a change?Come on people!Be creative!
