"But I agree with Garret, we won't ahve time to map out the sewers," Mary argued. "Maybe we can hide out somewhere's for a little bit, then come back when they stop searching here. They might not look somewhere's they've already been."

Jessica padded quickly after Shadow, not surprised at hearing Colton being announced as leader, but sharing Shadow's disappointment. As she padded beside him, he broke into a run, and she followed. "I'm sorry," she said. "It really should've been you." Even as those words left her mouth, she knew the mission would go better with Colton leading it. She felt guilty thinking that, and turned her gaze downward.

Shadow stared at the ground as he ran. "Thanks Jess..But I-I have this feeling that maybe putting Colton in charge wasn't the better choice. I mean, you've seen him when my dad mentions going after the dogs in the firehouse..He gets all, reluctant and hesitant. Either he's nervous, or he's taken a liking to one of the dogs..And that can't be good for our job." He said to her, careful to let her and only her hear what he said. 'Or maybe it's just my dumb imagination.'

Garret closed his eyes, thinking through all the possiblities that were being thrown at him. There was only one thing that he could get out of all the different escape plans. "We can't stay here, in the building, while the cops search it. I think that much is obvious," he said. "For now, we need to have as many escape plans as possible in case one falls out. Mary and Lily, look for some building in town, but not too close to this firehouse, that the group will be able to stay in for a short period of time. Titan, take Luna and John to help you map out the sewer tunnels. Cassie and me will look around for a safe way out of town. Tucker and Buck, just keep an eye on the place and if those cop dogs start sniffing too close, I want you out of this house and looking for me." Normally Garret would take Tucker and leave Cassie with Buck, but he didn't think it would be safe out on the streets with the cops looking for them. He didn't want his youngest son to be caught with a convict, even though that convict would be Cassie. He looked around the group one more time before announcing in a grim voice, "We leave tomorrow night. That gives us a little less then two days. So work fast."

Cassie nodded at her mate, wishing to leave tonight instead of waiting a whole other day, but she wasn't about to argue with him. "Then, we better get started," she finally said, sitting up and nudging Buck towards his older brother. "You'll be with Tucker todays, guarding our home. You have a very important job, so I need you to stay with Tucker no matter what."

Lily glanced over at Mary and smiled flightingly. Lily had grown fond of Mary, but staying with her for the rest of the day would be a task. Mixing two dogs that both liked going their own ways and play be their owns rules was probably not her dad's best idea. But if it meant it getting out of the house, it would be worth it.

Luna couldn't bring herself to say much more than her normal answer. "Just as good as yesterday." She was afraid that John would catch something in her voice. She had tried to mention that fact that Mako was out of jail, but she couldn't force her mouth to form that name. Just the thought brought back horrid memories. And now having to spend a whole day with John and Titan? There was no way that neither of them was going to notice she was even more off today that normal.




Storm walked in silence for a while with Colton behind him before he stopped in his tracks and sat down. "You do realize the great importance of this mission, correct?" He didn't wait for an answer before continueing. "You see, I was there when the dogs were first busting, but in all the choas, they got away. So this mission is very precious to me and I do not give you the lead of the case lightly. I needed you to give all your determination and training that you've had into this mission. Now, I won't be joining you on this spying on the firehouse. I have some discussion with the director about the new team member to join you after I retire. But I will br checking in on your progress. And if I find one flaw, one slip-up, well... You do know this oppitunity does not garuntee you a spot as commander, right?"

John nodded, not wanting to push Luna anymore. Hearing his name, his ears flicked forward and he looked up at Garret, he was grouping himself with Titan and Luna. His ears layed back ever so slightly. He knew this could be bad. He nodded though and then looked at Luna, "Lets go map out those tunnels then."

Tucker nodded, he wanted to go with his dad but he though he understand some of his father's logic. He looked down at his brother, and then to his mother and then around the rest of the pack. He was going to make sure he defended their home, even if it cost him his life, unless he was told otherwise.

"Okay mum." Said Buck, nuzzling his mother before sitting at his older brother's paws. He let out a small puppy-like growl and smiled up at his brother. "We're gonna protect this place from the nasty dogs, huh?" He asked innocently. He then stared out the window of the firehouse and sat, and watched for anyone approaching the building. 'I wonder what would happen to us if they ever caught us.' Thought Buck, tilting his head slightly as he thought. He decided to ask his older brother. "Tucker, what would happen to the pack if the nasty dogs ever caught us?" He asked, a small hint of worry in his voice.

Shadow soon saw a group of pets talking to eachother and decided to ask them first. He walked up to them, making sure Jessica was with him. The group of pets went silent when Shadow and Jessica approached them. "Agent Shadow and Agent Jessica, we're from the police and here to ask you some questions." He spoke calmly. This went on for a while; talking to pets all over the town and trying to get answers.

Titan looked to Luna and John. "Alright, let's go, we dont' have much time." he said, leading down to the basement and opening the manhole cover. He slowly climbed down, the stench was horrid, it made his eyes water instantly. "Peeyew! It's worse than I remembered." he said. "But preferible to being caught by the cops."

Mako walked out of the prison, getting his motorcycle from the impound yard. "Time to get back in the saddle." he said, driving away and pulling out a homemade detonator and pressing it, causing a large explosion to tear through the prison, loud enough to be heard from the police dogs' location.

Mary stood, wondering how this day would go. "Come on," she said to Lily, waiting for her before padding off.

After what seemed like the hundrenth questioning, Jessica let out a bored sigh. "I doubt any of them know anything," she muttered, turning slightly pessimistic in her boredom.

Tucker looked down at his little brother, Buck. "If those nasty dogs caught us, you would have the most important job ever, to run and go get dad as fast as you can while ill stay here and play hide and seek with them, that way the focus on me while the rest of the pack is ok, and then i'll come and join you guys later once they cant find me" he smiled. He didnt like lying to his brother, but he knew he couldnt tell him the exact truth yet. Besides, if the cops did find them, it was important that Buck went and found the rest of the pack without worring about him.

John watched Titan climb down the manhole, cringing slightly from the smell. "Oh thats just nasty." he muttered as he looked down at the rotwieler. He glanced at Luna. "Would you care to go next? Or last?"

"Oh, okay." Said Buck, turning his head to look out the window once again. He'd never really met a cop, only heard stories about them. Buck sighed with boredom until something caught his eye, the shapes of two other canines and by the looks of them they weren't in the pack. "Tucker, do we have any german shepherds in the pack?"

Shadow's sighed with complete boredom. "Yeah...It seems this little trip into town was for nothing. No-one seems to know about or have seen the dogs from the firehouse." He replied. Suddenly, Shadow's ears shot straight up when he heard a noise in the distance. "Huh? Jessie, did you hear that? Either they're practicing gunfire in the firing range or something's gone awfully wrong." He muttered.

Tucker looked down at Buck "John is a german sheperd, but hes white." He didnt think to much of what his brother was aying at the moment. His ears and nose pricked and strained to catch any non-pack activity.

Jessica wondered when he had started calling her 'Jessie', but that thought was soon pushed to the back of her mind as Shadow continued, looking confused and alert at the same time. She tensed, twitching a white ear slightly, standing still. "I don't think it's guns, Shad," she said. "Let's go investigate." She ran off, going a bit slow to allow Shadow to catch up.
