I got confirmation of something I had already guessed, considering the 2011 sollicitations for Boom! comics :
Quote:
Although they’re still not talking about it, Boom has lost the Muppets/Pixar license as of the end of December, which is why there are no new solicitations in January. The biggest casualty of this is apparently Incredibles, which stopped abruptly at the end of issue #15, with the villains winning and the Incredibles despised by the public.
The regular Disney license is up with them this year, which is why, I suspect, they’re trying so hard to push the classic characters and piggyback on the success of Darkwing Duck. Having lost one portion of the license, I imagine they’re really trying to hold on to the othert portion, since it’s departure would mean that their kid’s line had no other properties.
I guess this is a bad news for Muppets and Pixar fans (although I'm sure another publisher will be glad to obtain the licence), but that is GREAT news for us TaleSpin fans!!! This leaves full open space for more Disney Afternoon comics!! And honestly, except maybe from Gargoyles, which other DA title could be more popular than a TaleSpin one?
I only hope they aren't going the bankrupt way though (but considering the Muppets/Pixar titles weren't selling THAT well - they were all doing much worse than Darkwing Duck - I currently don't worry too much) I would really hate to see a great opportunity like that disappear...an opportunity like that to revive an old franchise like TaleSpin doesn't appear more than once a decade...
Am I the only one surprised that Darkwing Duck, Ducktales and probably Rescue Rangers are all selling better than *Pixar* titles? Can you only imagine the effect new films based on Disney Afternoon titles could have, with the right marketing push??
