"Shut the hell up!" And so on.

Sometimes the censor seemingly breaks? I've had situations where words weren't censored before (my favourite, the more extreme version of darn), and then I come back and use it again thinking it's ok now, I get a warning and blocked ears to my argument. It's happened before.

The swearing rule is really satrting to confuse me now.
First of all, let me say that I agree with Conay. This isn't a kid's site, it's a family site. The majority of members are teenagers+, and I personally wouldn't let anyone under the age of 12 on a site like this. Where I live, there's a difference between swearing and slang. Slang being the not-so-bad, not so offensive everyday words like "*****", "arse/***", "crap" and "hell". These can be heard in classic cartoons like The Simpsons, which many kids enjoy hugely. Swears are obviously words like "s**t" & "f**k", which are used very casually here between me and people of my age. Hell, I even swear with my parents and they don't mind anymore.
I've been banned from the site for swearing (granted, that was only one of the reasons). But the worst I've said on the shout box is "*****" and "hell". And that was WITH a moderator who I as having a laugh with.
I noticed Conay mentioned the word "bloody". That's really only offensive slang in places like Britain and Australia, as far as I'm aware of. I used to get told off for saying it when I was much younger. xD There's also words like "wanker" aswell, which is a very nasty name-calling word with a nasty meaning. I've seen it said on the SB, and no one seemed to care. For most people don't understand what it means. xD
So yeah, I really don't understand the swearing system these days. Plus, the worst words you can say on the SB or on here are censored anyway. So... eh. They SHOULD make a list of what can and can't be said - I think we all deserve a better understanding of it. "Don't swear" isn't enough, considering so many people do it very casually these days in every day conversation with friends and family, and some swears are much worse than others.
They're just words in my opinion.
- Rebel.

- Rebel. Well, as a UK citizen living in the posh area of Kent. "Bloody", as far as I can tell; is not offensive. "Wanker"... It's offensive in some ways, and shouldn't really be said on here. Although, whenever I'm called one, I always reply with "yes I am a w*****, I find it enjoyable". Or something along the lines of that.

That's not even offensive in Australia, it's in common use! Everyone says it so it's not considered one. Quote: So yeah, I really don't understand the swearing system these days. I just think we need a list of the ones that are a bit culture-clashing, ie not offensive in one place but very in another.

I agree with you totally there.
Yeah, I don't think a list of words that can't be used is reasonable, well, most people know which already!
I do agree there.

Roi Doberwolf wrote: And about the list of swears thing, I don't think it'd be a good idea so much to make a list of ones we CAN'T use. If there's to be a list of ones we can use, I don't think one for words that are not to be used would be needed. And it'd show kids new words the can try out on the site if they feel cocky enough, or in real life. Hence why I suggested only listing the lighter ones that culture-clash, no extreme ones because those would be obviously banned.
