Shay had been silent, as usual. She had become shy as Ryan walked up to them, but now put on a small smile. "I'm Kya," she said. Her voice was barely over a whisper, but clear.
Kya often wished that Shay was more talkative, and this was one of those times. Wagging her tail, she greeted Hunter. "I'm Kya. NIce to see you're coming with us." She sounded slightly formal, but that was part of a normal greeting for her.

"Isn't that the name of your dog?" Bailey asked Shay.
"Yeah, you said 'Kya'". Rufus agreed.
"C'mon, guys." Shell said, walking with Bailey.

"Oh, well then." Bailey said, and noticed Shell was starting to walk off. "We'd better go." she said.
Rufus chuckled a little to himself.
Shell noticed Shay's embarassment, and quickly pressed against her, in hopes to make her feel better, then dashed off again.
"We're in the woods now, they can be let of thier leashes," Rufus said, unclipping Shell's and Mischief's seperate leashes.

Shay smiled, and unclipped Kya's leash.
The golden retirever immediatly shook her thick coat, glad to be free. Kya ran to catch up with Mischeif and Shell, her tail wagging.

Ryan wanted to smile at Shay, thinking she was pretty funny without meaning to be, but he forced himself not to. He was seeming to feel strong feelings for Shay, but he kept it to himself, not wanting to blurt it out since he was the 'mysterious stranger' for now. "Cool," he said simply.
Hunter looked up at Ryan as if to ask 'Can I go too?'
Ryan nodded, and Hunter dashed off in front. But soon, he realized he was in the forest, and stopped in his tracks. Flashbacks began to flood his brain, making him remember the hunters that killed his parents.

Kya stopped, and looked at the wolf curiously. "You okay?" she asked, padding towards him.
Shay turned her small smile on him, glad he hadn't laughed at her or teased her for stuttering, like some people did.

Ryan finally decided to let his smile show, but not because he wanted to laugh at Shay, for a different reason he couldn't comprehend.
Hunter shook his head, momentarily shaking himself from the flashbacks. "Wha-what? Uh, yeah... I'm fine...." he said, forgeting to mask the obviousness of his lie.

"Yeah, are you ok?" Mischief asked Hunter. "You look scared."
"Do the woods cause you to have a sort of fear?" Shell asked.
"What's wrong with Hunter?" Bailey asked Ryan, seein him freeze. "Is he ok?"
Rufus noticed the tension between the two, and was thankful for Bailey's distraction from that conversation. "Yeah, he looks afraid." Rufus stook out a hand, to make sure that Hunter would let him pet him, to comfort him.

Hunter was a bit confused with all the questions, but he finally decided to let it out. "Uh... it's just that... last time I was here, I was alone... hunters killed my parents..." he said, a bit of nervousness in his voice.
Ryan tilted his head. Since he wasn't sure what Hunter's exact past was, he couldn't tell what Hunter's fear was from. He didn't even know Hunter had any fear. But he did know that Hunter was a wolf. He did know Hunter used to live in the forest. "Well, he used to live in the forest alone... something must've happened that he got seperated from his pack or something..." he replied to Bailey and Rufus.
Hunter, realizing Rufus was trying to pet him, licked his hand and allowed him to pet him.

"Nice boy," Rufus said to Hunter, rubbing behind his ears, and eventually crouching down next to him.
"He does seem nice," Bailey commented, "Poor dog, though." she said.
Shell barked, and nuzzled Rufus' hand.
He petted her.

Hunter suddenly tensed a bit. "Wolf," he corrected, although the humans couldn't understand him.
As if reading Hunter's mind, Ryan said, "Wolf."

"I didn't know he was a wolf. I though he was a Tamaskan." Shay commented. "Is it nice, having a wolf?" It was the longest sentence she had ever said at once, and she blinked, surprised at herself.

"Wow. A wolf." Rufus said. "Nice. He sorta looks like Mischief and Shell, now that you think of it, doesn't he, Bailey?" he asked the girl.
"sorta." she responded.
"Great. Hopefully they won't start thinking we're wolves. Please still mistake us for German Shepherd mutts..." Shell heard Mischief mutter.

Ryan grinned slightly. "It's nice, but when I got him, I thought he was only half. It doesn't matter though because he's great anyways." Ryan was in shock. He finally was talking to people. It was a new feeling to him.
Hunter tilted his head. "But..." he sniffed the air. "You guys are part wolf, I don't understand why...." he trailed off.
