Seeing this thread makes me happy. :]
Yes, I am a furry. No, I have not yet gone to furry conventions. I hope to sooner or later, but it will be hard since there aren't any in my area. I've always been huge a fan of anthros and animals with human characteristics. Heck, I love animals more than humans. I love the idea of fursuiting, and even if I haven't mastered making a fursuit yet I've managed to make a wolf costume completely from scraps of every day items you buy at a store. (Of course, that's how you make a fursuit anyway..) When I found out what furries were I knew that was something I was, and I feel perfectly comfortable being one. And whether this has to do with being a furry or not, I also believe I have a wolf spirit living within me and I believe there is such a thing as anthros and animals with human characteristics existing somewhere in the universe. I believe anything imagined can be somewhere in the universe. I'll be sure to check this topic when I get around on the forums here.. this topic really interests me.

Yes, but I'm more of a softcore furry, I'm not big on the lifesytle, but I love the artwork and I really love the idea of fursuitin and even want to commission one in the future, I have had people try and convert me over to the so called "darkside" of the fandom, but I have for the most part refused to do so. and so there you you have it.

I probably COULD consider myself a furry. Though I think I'm more prone to werewolf tendencies. In fact I'm WAY more werewolf than furry.
But some of my best friends are furs, so I draw in that style on occasion.

No, I'm not a furry. To be perfectly honest, I don't like furries. Not the individuals themselves, but the actual label.

What annoys me most? The definitions -
"If you have a fursona, you're a furry." Okay, I had a fursona waaaay before I had any idea what a 'furry' was. And I'm sick of people accusing me of being one just because I have a fursona. It gets annoying..
"If you love drawing animals and watching animal films, you're a furry." This annoys me too. There has to be a name for people who love doing this? Why? It's like saying "If you wear black and die you're hair black, you're an emo." I hate labels altogether, 'Furry' is no exception.
"If you draw anthros, you're a furry." I don't like this. Anthros are NOT furry's creations. Anthropomorphic animals were around waaaay before furries were. >>

Of course one of my biggest peeves are some of the awful subjects furry art portrays (ex: zoophilia, paedophilia etc.). Seriously, it's sick and illegal. Why are they still allowed to draw such things?!
Look, the general pornographic side doesn't bother me, I don't mind the general softcore stuff personally. But when it gets to the point of "OMG, let's draw every single fetish we have, no matter how sick and impossible they are!!!", it just... annoys the heck out of me. -_- I have a FurAffinity account, and some of this stuff is just impossible to avoid. I know a lot of nice friendly furries who say "Oh, furverts are rare. Most of us are cute and sweet!", but that's just wishful thinking. More than half of them are sick sick people, who draw bad stuff just for money and popularity. That's a sad fact in the furry universe - once you draw porn, you're popular.

And last.. they just.. annoy me. xD Some of them say things like "It's sooo hard to type with my paws ><" or "I'm a fox trapped in a human's body!", and it makes me want to punch them in the face. xD The animal obsession weirds me out to be honest... I mean, it's okay to love animals, but when it gets to the point of believing you are on... it just gets creepy. Please note, I mean furries, not Therians/Otherkin. Even though they make little sense to me too, but whatever..

I love animal art - to draw and to look at. And I must admit, I wouldn't mind owning my own fursuit, I think they're pretty cool. But other than that, I just don't like furries. I don't like the label, or the fact that loving/drawing animals and animal movies NEEDS a label. It just... angers me. >.> What's even worse is when they treat it like a sexual orientation or a lifestyle. Like "Furry pride!" and "My mom doesn't know I'm a furry... I'm really scared to tell her." UGH, it just... annoys me.

Sorry to be so honest (and a little.. graphic?) but I needed to share my two pence here. This is my opinion, and my personal study on 'furries' ever since I first met some a couple of years ago. I can't stress this enough - I don't dislike them individually, I just hate the label. It's complicated and irritating. Which is why I want to stay far away from it, thanks.

Reading my post will make all the world better. Probably not, but it's the most valid point on this thread so far.

@ Amaterasu & K^iZ3R S0Z£: Personally I don't care what the heck you draw, but should you really be talking about drawing older viewing images on a kids site? 8|

^ Which is fine and all, but we should really keep that topic out of the conversation. Course not being a mod, my words aren't made of stone.

Well, as far as I've seen, it is.

I didn't want to start an argument, and I guess I appreciate your response. But I don't agree with it. I hope this doesn't turn into a fight.
