Hera searched the trees for a good place to sleep. A crook among the branches curved, and she fit into it like a key in a lock. She felt happier than she had in years, the soft rhythm of the wind through the trees lulling her to sleep. Trees were stable, warm and trustworthy. With that final thought, she fell asleep.

Shay stayed awake for a while, swinging one foot in the empty space beside the fork. Soon, her eyes felt heavy, and she dozed off.

Slowly, the sun began to rise, until light streamed into Hera's face, waking her up almost immediately. She groaned and gave up trying to sleep.

Nudge sat up and yawned, smiling sleepily at Hera and Shay. "Mornin'," she said, her words slurred from sleep. Gazzy, on the other hand, jolted upright immeiatly. A liquid sound filled the air, and Nudge looked startled, and held her nose. "What?" Shay asked. THen, Gazzy let it rip. Shay gagged, coughing, and plugged her nose. Immediatly, everyone woke up, having a reaction similiar to Shay.

Max, her eyes watering, spoke as if this was obvious. "We go get some food," she said. "Ooh!" Nudge broke in, clearly excited. "Can we go to like, a fancy resturant or something?" Her big eyes pleaded with Max, and she hesitataed. Fang stepped in, his quie, smooth voice speaking, "How about McDonalds?" Nudge nodded, clearly happy with this too. McDonalds? Shya thought, confused. What was that?

Shay nodded. She had guessed that already, but she needed the confirmation. She suddenly wished she wasn't this way. She bet that all of the normal people didn't stae blankly like an idiot when someone mentioned McDonalds.

"Footing it," Max answered. "We trying to stay undetected, Iggy added, slightly mocking. Max threw him a sharp glare that had no effect on him. Shay suddenly realized that he must be blind.
"Let's go," Max said, her brisk tone underlied with a hint of exasperation.

Max began to walk without warning, and taken by surprise, Shay had to jog briefly to catch up. AS they walked, her stomach began to growl with hunger, and Shay placed a hand over it, as if that could silence it.
