Just something that starts to annoy me more and more. Ever had the situation that you wanted to buy a movie score but the actual soundtrack had just a few rock/pop songs on it? I mean nice, it´s probably good music but not what I wanted. If I want to listen to rock then I´m going to buy the latest Warped Tour Compilation or something like that. Right now it´s a gruesome situation. The "Soundtrack" to Transformers contains nearly everything, except the score written by Steve Jablonsky. And I can´t believe that some resellers tag this Album with "OST" since it´s more like a LST (Licensed Soundtrack)...
I know what you mean... I mean, when I bought the Spider-Man 2 Soundtrack, it contained mostly rock songs that were inspired by the movie (well, all except "Vindicated" by Dashboard Confessional, the song played during the credits) It did have some of the score, but only the SpiderMan suite and the Dock Ock suite (both by Danny Elfman). I think the only times you can really find soundtracks with the actual score is for movies that are the type that wouldn't be appropriate to write rock songs for them. I mean, Lord of the Rings, as mainstream as it was, is an example of that.
And about the Transformers soundtrack, it hardly surprises me, since the movie itself was described by one critic as "one big product placement"
However, I'll list mine, even though I only have a few. The only ones I deemed good enough to buy:
Lord of the Rings 1&2 (I prefer 2, though)
Spider-Man 2
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (a nice compilation of medlies of classical music by Mozart, Bach, and some originally composed stuff. Most, if not all, have at least one part played by Yo-Yo Ma.)
School of Rock (heh, got me back in touch with some of the original rock bands!)
