Ranger shook his head softly.
"Are you crazy? It's not the end of the world, and it won't be for a long time. Something very weird is just going on..."
He paused, thinking for a moment, then continued.
"I do want to visit old Ira just to be sure, though."

Tucker was still shaken, but he went to work trying to get Kali woken back up.
"You think Dakota is okay?"

Kali's eyes fluttered, and she opened them completely.

"Nice to have you join us agian,," Tally said, rolling her eyes. "I hope he is," she answered.

Dakota paddded up them, bleeding slightly, singed in some places, put alive.

Ranger sighed in relief as he saw Kali waking back up, then jumped in surprise a moment later when he saw Dakota.
"Yipes! Oh jeeze, Dakota...You scared me. You alright?"

Dakota nodded heavily, then collapsed.

Tally ran up to him, her eyes once again wide. She nosed him urgently, struggling to wake him up.

Shaking his head, Ranger hurriedly began picking Dakota up.
"Let's all get out of this area right now. Somebody get His back legs, please."

Tucker nodded in agreement.
"I agree. Let's get out of this awful smell and beck to somewhere safe.

((Just be aware, nothing major isn't going to happen just yet. remember the plan I PMed you. Let's get up to that point, first))

Tally nodded, and picked up Dakota's back legs. "Got him," she said.

Kali watched silently, her eyes wide.

Dakota stirred slightly as he was moved. She blinked hazily. THe stress of the moment and slight loss of blood and pain had gotten to him.

Ranger noticed Dakota was awake again. Hi smiled.
"So I see you're back with us again. You think you can walk?"

"I-I'll try," he said, slightly shaky. He slid onto the ground, swaying slightly but still standing and uproght. He took a few steps, then had to lean heavily on Kali.

"I would take that as a no," Tally concluded.

Ranger sighed.
"Kali, can you support him while we walk, we have to get back to the town, then go talk to old Ira. I want to know his take on this."

"Sure!" Kali agreed.

"Tucker, you help Kali if you see Dakota start to fall or something," Tally instructed the small dog.

Tucker ran up next to Dakota, and began walking with them, keeping a careful eye on Dakota.

The dogs made good time getting down the mountain, although they were slowed by the injured Dakota. By about sundown, they had made it into town, and up to the veterinary office. Ranger padded up to the front door and scratched at it until it opened, and a frail old woman in her mid 80's came scooting out. She immediately saw Dakota, and gasped loudly, then quickly came down the steps and picked him up carefully, and brought him inside. Tucker tried to follow her in, but Ranger stopped him, shaking his head silently.
The old woman returned a few moments later with a handful of treats. She handed one to each of them, talking quietly.

"Thank you all. Your friend will be alright, but I will have to keep a careful eye on him until he heals. What in God's name happened to him, though, I wonder..."
With that, the woman retreated back into the building and shut the door, leaving to dogs to themselves once again.

"Let's go visit Ira now," Tally said, her voice slightly muffled by the treat in her mouth.

Ranger sighed. "It'll be about midnight by the time we get there. I think we should just get back to out homes and wait until tomorrow before we see him."

"I guess so," Tally agreed releculantly. "But first thing in the morning, okay?" she asked, her brown eyes looking at Ranger, a mix between threatening and pleading in their brown depths.

Ranger nodded.
"Yep, first thing in the morning."

Sleep didn't come easily to Ranger that night, and as he cuddled on his bed under his family's television, he often found himself tossing and turning, not being able to get the sights from that day out of his head. Finally, he was able to fall into a pitiful sleep.

Ranger got up early the next morning, and sneaked out of his home to go get the others. He arrived at Tally's home first and barked softly several times, letting her know he was here.
