"I dunno, Im lost" I giggled, I stopped myself Short. I DON'T giggle. I yawned and Lay back, Staring up at the blank ceiling "I wonder what else their is round here" i murmered "Where exactly are we anyway? it doesnt look like any hosp[ital I'VE ever seen"

"You're right. There's none of those shock pad things, or buttons to call nurses or anything. Are we even in a hosptal?" I asked. I didn't think Alex would know the answers either, but I couldn't seem to hold in the flow of questions. "And where are mom and dad?" A horrible thought swept over me. "Do you think that....that they made it out?" I half whispered, the thought to terrible to consider.

I covered my ears and buried my face in the pillow "I dont know" I whimpered quietly "I just dont know"

"Get up Lex," I insisted softly. "Let's go find someone to tell us." I tugged on my sister's shoulder gently.

I sniffed slightly and nodded sitting up, just as the door opened.

A man in a white coat (XD, think MR) walked in, making my heart pound. He seemed to just stare at me, like someone would when observing their work. It made me feel uncomfortabel, and I cleared my throat. "Where are we?" I asked.

I jumped in as soon as my sister asked "Where are we? What happened? Who are you? Why is everything about us different? wheres our faimly?" I babble out. At least that hadnt changed

"You are in a local hospital, in a recovery room. You were injured in the fire, and we had to do major surgery. I am Dr. Hessik. The reason everything is different about you is because of the surgery. You were damaged fatally, and we had to ah, make drastic changes. Your father is safe. Your mother, however-" Dr. Hessik dropped of suddenly, looking immediatly sad and drawn. "She was trapped under a fallen beam. We got to her to late."

I let out a cry of shock and pain, feeling grief-sticken, the room spinning around me as my thoughts crashed against eachother in a panicked blur. "No," I whispered, sounding close to tears. "No," I repeated, softer this time, tears escaping and tracing trails down my pale cheeks.

((Thought I should add some drama....))

I sprang to my feet, Only vaguely aware of what I was doing "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!" I yelled "Howe could you get to her to late?!" I snarled. Furious tears sprang to my eyes "You cant ahve" I said quietly, Sinking down onto the bed. I breathed heavily to regain my calm "H-how did the fire start?"

Dr. Hessik shrugged. "We don't know how it started. It could've been faulty wiring, someone setting the fire on purpose, food left in the oven," he said.

I wasn't even aware of his words, only aware of teh grief that threatened to drown me. Sobs escaped from my throat, my usual stoic demeanor broken, shattered comepletly. I stepped towards the doctor, and although he stepped back, a grabbed the front of his coat, grief sontrolling my movements. "It isn't possible!" I said. "SHe had to of gotten out! I bet you just let her die!" My voice had risen and gotten higher, until I sounded like I was crazy, or a banshee.

"If you honestly think we would let her die, you're wrong. We tried, but her vitals were already gone when we got to her! SHe insisted we find you first," he said, pushing my trembling hand aside.

I Grabbed Mayas shoulders and sat her back down, Having no words to comfort her I stroked her hair softly and hukemd the lullaby mum had sung us when we were younger.

I allowed Alex to comfort me, unable to move after my outburst from shock. Sobs still made my chest heave, tears streaming down my face.

After an awkward moment, Dr. Hassik cleared his throat and left.

I finsihed but carried on stroking Mayas hair, Despite being different it still felt the same. And for that small normality I was grateful.

Eventually, my sobs disappeared, replaced by small sniffles. Pulling away from my sister, I wiped my red eyes, to sad to be embarrassed.

I sat back, Letting Her dry her eyes. I'd grieve later, When there was time. Right now I had to findout what was going on "Im going for a walk" I said lamely and Pushed through the doors. The Cold echoes of rubber on metal as I walked helped soothe my nerves.
