Why are people calling it soccer?

It involves the foot and a ball. Hence 'Football' being the appropiate and correct term for the sport that we invented

How can you say it was luck? As much as I dislike the French and the Italians, I must say that they deserved it. This year? Not so much

the first italian games were terrible,then they started making things a bit better but i think that other teams like Argentina,Brasil or germany played much better and deserve the cup much more than italy

I know this American kid who came to our school for 6 months last year. He kept saying "so did you watch the soccer last night?", after a week of threats we ended up punching him in the face. Noone dares call football "soccer" in the UK. It deserves an instant death penalty.



I don't think so. Yeah their group games were a bit shaky, but after the last 16 they were outright deserving winners.

And that proves many people take a sport too seriously. As if it were a sacred thing. You do realize he probably had no idea you call it football? Many Americans call it soccer, so even though most call it football, soccer is STILL a name for the sport, no matter how many people you punch.

Anyways, seeing as I'm getting into soccer/football lately, I have started watching. I have to say that I'll be rooting for the USA and Portugal, no matter if they do not make it. And I won't bash on other countries for beating them, I'll just simply take it. And I'm guessing a country from either Europe or South America will win, as they tend to be the most skilled. But you never know.

What a shame, if it wasn't for a silly mistake, and a pathetic German ball, we would have won. And personally, we deserved to.

Honestly Conay, I thought it was a fair game. England didn't seem too team-oriented that day, or was it just me? Amazing players, no doubt, but together as a whole, they seemed a bit patchy to me. Ont the other hand, the US is not as great individually.

Perhaps, the point i though, England failed to score the second time. It's football, anything can happen.

Personally, I like football only for the semi-finals... Because I'm always for the team who lose the first ._.

Then, this year, I decided I would be only for France x) Because I'm french, and even if the team has changed so much, I still love them =D

I'm French, it's normal I think they should be in. But you're right too. The match against Ireland was... complicated. But we are here now, and this is the game. Btw I hope Ireland will be in for the next FIFA =) They deserve it.
