''That's great!'' Santi smiled. He watched Brendan's every move Why him? Santi thought to himself. Santi got madder but he was about Balto's size and Brendan was huge! ''Hey Jen's sis I mean Brother wanna go huntin''' A mutt asked. ''Sure!'' And with that Santi and about three mutts went hunting. ''Hey let's make him do all the work!'' They snickered as they looked at Santiago. The four found a big moose grazing in the field. ''Santi you make the first move.'' A mutt whispered. Santi nodded and crept closer to the moose. WATHUDDD!!! Santiago pinned and killed the moose without any help. ''Dang...!'' The three mutts said simultaneously. Santi lifted his head and howled, calling all members of the pack to eat. He recieved all kinds of complements even one from Brendan! But he didn't eat, he trotted about a mile into the field. He heard a low rumbling and looked toward the east. He ran back and howled, ''Stampede!!!'' About one thousand mule deer stampeded the site. All the pack members including Jenny ran, but Santi stood frozen. That was how his mother died. After a few minutes of fear Santi was trampled and stomped on. All the deer left Santi almost lifeless on the ground.

"SANTI!!!" Jenny shrieked, and dasged through the satampede, nearly killing herslef. "Jenny, no stop!!" Brendan was terrified, that his new mate, was going to save her basiclly already dead, brother. But she kept ging, then a large aggressive male buck-kicked her into a tree. She staggered up and walked over to Santi. "santi?..."

Santi looked up at his sister, ''J-j-jenny?'' He tried to get up but fell down again. Solo raced over to them with Snowshoe on his back, ''What happened?'' Solo watched as a few mutts carried Santi to the pack site. As the ride went on Santi growled in pain. All he could think about was his mother.

"Don't struggle, like Mo-... Mom... Struggling takes more blood into your body, and it seeps through your cuts, and you lose blood, so stop- AHHHH!" Jenny fell, and Brendan gasped as he sa none but Dante. He was scared up and bleeding" I-I have done it! Killed my enemy!!" He stammered. Brendan Launched himelf and all his fury on the worthless mutt, Cursing. When he was done there was nothing left, except a few hairs. And some bones, and brendan was panting. He walked over to Jenny and nuzzled her, She didn't move. Santi wimpered, No, not Jenny, she is all i have left... Santi thought.

Santi limped over to Jenny's side. ''No...'' He whispered. He saw the hunter who had shot her earlier and lunged in rage. The hunters dog tackled Santi, but Santi finished the dog in a couple of seconds. He faced the hunter and put him out of his misery. (sp?)

Santi turned to see Brendan snuggled up to her side, and he was accually(sp?) Sniffling and crying. "Is.. Is she gone?" He asked Santi. Santi didn't know what to do, and the other wolves had left. Brendan stood up, and walked over to Santi" You...I hate to say it, but YOU can take care of her. She needs loving care constantly, iam to busy for that. PLease, do it for her"

Santiago was shocked but he noded in response. He put Jenny on his back, ran a few feet away and whispered, ''Goodbye, my friend.'' As soon as he reached home everyone asked what happened. He told his brothers everything. Santi laid Jenny on the ground, curled up next to her, and fell asleep.

The following day....

Santi woke up to a startling noise, Howling accually. He walked outside to see Brendan. "Well? How is she??" He sounded very eager to know. Santi yawned, and replied.

Santi looked around him, ''Well she was there last night, you'll probably find her near the lake. She always goes there.''

Brendan rushed down to the lake, but he did't see her there. He looked everywhere ut he couldn't find her. The he heard Santi" BRENDAN COME QUICK I FOUND HER!!!" Brendan rushed to the scene, and he saw santi standing infront of a cave. He looked inside and saw Jenny with 5 little balls of fluff. They were her puppies!! 5 adorable little fluff balls sleeping beside there mother.

Santi saw a flock of ravens leave the woods, ''Brendan! Hunters and they're coming this way! Help me ward them off!'' Santi ran to the campsite and thrashed around. The hunters followed him, and their dogs nipping at his heels. He ran for hours on end but didn't give up. One hunter shot at Santiago, but he jumped out of its way.

Brendan shot out and attacked one of the hunters dogs, and joined in on the chase. Then both boys stopped when they heard a large amount of yelping " THE PUPPIES!" AThe both shouted at once. They dashed down the path to see a hunter holding 4 dead pups in his hands. Jenny lunged at him and killed him. She lay on the ground sobbing, she curled up around thier broken bodies, and Brendan and Santi stould there in shock. " They had just opened their little eyes... for the first time...*Sniffle sniffle*.." Then Brendan saw a tiny body squirm out between the cave wall, and a bunch of broken rox. "Look.." Jenny ran over to the pup, and cuddled with it. She was so relieved that at least one pup survived.

Santi sat there in total shock. He needed time to think so he ran to the mouth of a large river. He didn't realize that where he was sitting was slippery until he was in the river. He was drowning and fast. His whole body was numb and his vision went blurry. He heard the roar of the waterfall then he went over the edge.

Suddenly Santi felt warmth, and he opened his eyes and he was being licked clean and dry by Jenny. Brendan was in the corner of the cave, playing with his son. They called him Seth, and He looked a lot like his father.

''What happened?'' Santi asked still dazed. He stood up and shook his fur dry, he also got some water on Jenny, ''Oops sorry.'' he laughed.
