When We Gaze At The Stars - Do They Gaze Back?

Zein opened her eyes and stared at Terra in fear. Then she realized who she was and turned into a wolf with white glistening fur. She made it look natural like Luna did and tried to sit up but failed.

"Terra...what happened?" She asked.

Sitka looked over the rim and thought he saw a flash of light then a wolf at the bottom of the crater. He gasped. Had the object struck her? He leapt from his perch and landed swiftly in the dirt and padded up to Terra and the white wolf. He then saw she was fine, except for her leg that looked broken.

"Are you alright, miss?" He asked urgently.

"F...fine..." Zein murmured, feeling light headed.

Terra smiled slightly and grabbed Zein's scruff, pulling her too her paws. "Be careful of your paw....and your on earth" Terra said, she whispered the last part in Zein's ear, she turned her head to see a black wolf laying on the ground, she walked over to him, then she looked up at Sitka, "What about this wolf" She said sniffing his pelt.

Sitka looked at the wolf, feeling a strange sense of hostility toward him. He shrugged and turned to Terra.

"I don't know who he is." He said.

Zein sat in her spot and shivered. She looked around, her heart feeling hollow. She had watched wolves have adventures, find love, and live their lives from the sky and never thought about what it would be like to walk there herself. It seemed so small compared to the unending land of the sky.

Terra shruged also, she saw the wolf was breathing so she turned to the others quietly. She gazed up at the sky, then back down where she was, in this hole Terra felt one with the earth, it made her smile. Her ears were fully erect and her tail swayed slowly, she looked over at Sitka, "Doesn't it feel wondeful here" She said looking around, the hole's walls were covered in bright green vines and some small flowers. Her heart lept with happiness, she wanted to turn back into her true self and just be one with the eart once more.

Legacy stirred once more and he rose to him paws, looking around he spotted the other wolves. He shook his fur and walced over to them, "Hello" He said eyeing them all quietly.

Rue turned back as Sitka did, listening to the conversation until another wolf stepped in. "Hello," Rue said in response, wondering if possibly any more wolves could appear from the trees. "WHo are you?" she asked, eyeing him curiously with amber eyes. "I'm Rue," she said, realizing she hadn't even introduced herself yet.

Luna looked at the sky where the moon was starting to appear above the horizon. "Yes, it is wonderful here," she said in response to Terra, then turned to the dark colored wolf, whose amber eyes were watching them. "Hello," she said, also, her voice soft. Her voice was always soft and quiet. "I'm Luna," she said, her white pelt making her name obvious.

Terra shook her fur, she looked over at the new wolf and nodded her head as he said hello, then she turned back to everyone else. "Maybe we should...stick together..." She said shly, then with one graceful leap she hoped out the hole hoping that everyone would follow her, she landed in the snow, it tickled her nose and she chuckled lightly. 'Maybe being a wolf was a good thing, maybe she would want to stay this way forever'.

Legacy bowed his head, then he spotted the white female wolf(Zein) He quickly ran over to her, "Hey...Baby" He said nuzzling her gently, his tail wagged widly as he turned his full attention to her, not even notcing the the other females around him. "Hows about I help you out of this dirty old hole" She said pushing against her.

Rue rolled her eyes and leapt out of the hole. Another flirt. SHe landed in the snow, Luna following her out.

Luna leapt out after Rue did, a bit amused by the new wolf's behavior to Zein. The cool snow felt good on her paws as she landed in it again, and she smiled, happy. "WE should stick together," Lun a greed quietly when she was out and standing next to Terra.

Sitka gazed at Legacy, hostility burning inside of him. Now he realized why he felt that way, this guy was a player. He let a growl rumble deep in his throat, almost to quiet for Legacy to hear and turned away to pad after Rue and Luna. His fur stood up and bristled as he turned back to look at Legacy and Zein. He stopped dead when he realized he felt jealous. Legacy sure had good looks, he could get almost any girl to go padding after him like a horse and her calf. Sitka turned away again and raced after Rue, his eyes straying from his path to Terra.

Zein sat up and felt something almost nudge her off her feet. She turned to see the black wolf talking to her. She had lived long enough to tell a player from a descent wolf. She growled at Legacy and turned away, pulling herself to her feet and leaping out of the hole to stand beside Luna.

"Males..." She sighed.

Terra waited quietly for the others to join her and Rue, she looked at everyone, "Maybe we should stick together" She said softly yet it was loud enough for everyone to hear. She sat down quietly, and she gazed up into the sky at the beautiful snow.

Legacy smirked, "Where ya going babe" He said hoping out the hole, he spoted Terra he winked at her as he walked by, making his way up to Rue. "What's your name, Cutie?" He asked looking her straight in the eyes, he brillant green eyes almost pierced though hers.

Rue rolled her eyes away. "Males are such idiots," she said louldy, pretending not to notice him. She smirked.

Luna silently hoped that he wouldn't come after her next, she had just gotten on Earth, and didn't want it to be ruuined by a snobby and flirting male, who seemed not to know when to stop.

Sitka snarled at Legacy. This wolf was flirty as well as annoying and he was going to put a stop to it.

"Hey buddy." Sitka growled in Legacy's face, "Leave these girls alone or you're dead meat."

Even Sitka surprised himself at his threat and cleared his throat, stepping back from Legacy but still growling.

Zein pretended Legacy wasn't even there and turned to Terra, dipping her head nicely.

"I agree. More wolves equals better chances of survival." Zein hoped her didn't sound too weird, she had heard many say this from the sky.

Luna nodded.

"Yes, they do. More food, more likely a chance to win a fight with others," she said quietly.

Rue nodded, shotting a glare at Legacy before she did so.

"I agree with Terra," she said.

"We should stick together, for the reasons Luna said, and more than that," she added.

Sitka nodded in agreement and began to pad across the field again. Rue and his den was not that far away, a cave near a waterfall that glowed at night because of the moon shining on it. He padded into the cave and stripped some moss off the walls to make beds for the others.

Zein stood slightly outside the cave. She didn't like being closed away from the sky, and she began to feel claustrophobic as the trees closed in around her and the gaping cave made it no easier to stand being away from her home. Her stomach felt hollow with loneliness and she padded into the cave only to drag out her moss and make a bed next to the entrance. The stars were just starting to shine overhead and she wondered what they were doing. She was the north star and everything would be different without her in the sky to guide lost wolves.

Sitka watched as Zein took away her bedding and lay down outside. He walked up to her, lowing his ears to show he was nothing like Legacy.

"I was wondering...why...why did you fall from the sky?" He asked.

Rue walked inside the den, curling up in her bedding of moss, laying her head down on her slightly visible paws.

As Luna was awlkig into the den, she heard Sitka's last question.

"Why did you fall from the sky?"

That would be hard to answer, she thought. He wouldn't beleive us if we told him that we were spirits, would he?

Zein pretened not to hear him and didn't even twitch her ears in acknowledgment. She just pretended to be asleep.

Sitka growled in frustration and stalked off to sit beside Rue. His ear twitched and his tail wrapped around his tail. That was the way he looked when he sensed danger or a strong aura in the air. He felt as though it was choking him, whatever was out there. He let out a gasp for air but when he breathed he realized he wasn't being choked, it was just his imagination.

"Something weird is going on..." He whispered to Rue.
