"WHy did you carry me?" seh retorted, completly dodging the question. She was aware again of her paws stinging, and inspected a pad. It was sctratched and oozed a trickle of blood. Sh elicked it to help staunch the flow and clean it. Her side also hurt from where the human had hurt her. She twisted and ispected that, then turned back to Dusty, satisfied that it had not bruised.

Remy's eyes softened slightly,a nd she finally admited what she had been hiding. "Oh, um, me too." she said, blushing furiously. She did, and now he felt for her too! She felt his eyes stare at her, and she kept her head lowered, her heart thumping wildly with excitement and the last few moments when they had been escaping. She stared at the leaf strewn ground, the last few colors of blazing autumn fading, winter was coming.

He went out on a limb and licked her muzzle. He smiled and said "I love you Remy."

"Woah." she said softly, taken by surprise. She hesitated, then nuzzled him, giving a small smile, her face serene.

Dust began to walk away thinking she didn't love him. He sighed and stopped to look at the town. "They will be back." He thought.

Remy took off like a bullet, her paws flying over the ground. Her heart was thudding again, and the thrill of the thought pf being caught lent extra speed to her paws.

Dust ran off to, but another bullet hit him the ear. He yelped a bit, but still ran.

Remy ran for a while, untill her breath came in short pants. The humans still chasing her, she ran faster and harder than before, her paws being scraped up by brambles and briar patches. Shw winced at every step, but kept puushing herself to go, or die.
