Shay heard the samll growl, and that shook of the memories. She pushed them to the back of her mind. "Well, I bet your hungry huh? Sorry, no dog food. I'll buy some later."She went down to the kitchen, bringing along the pretty pup. She placed a bowl on the floor."Here, eat this instead. It's ham."

Stardust began to eat the ham, it was quite tasty. Naturally she had other ways to eat in her natural form but this wasn't her natural form and she didn't want to scare her new owner. She was very thirsty as well, being she was just on a desert planet. She panted for water.

Shay absently stared into space as she sat beside the pup, stroking her silky fur. She looked down at her and smiled. She slowly withdrew her hand and emptied out the scraps, she put the bowl, now full of water, down. She sat down again, this time grabbing a brush. She did long strokes, pulling at snarles in the fur.

Stardust drank the water as a normal dog would, though she was used to having a much longer tongue in her true form. She finished and then set down enjoying being petted. Why did you name me Stardust? she whispered telepathically. Shay wouldn't really notice, it just suggested the idea to her mind.

Shay spoke to Stardust as she brushed. "You remind me alot like our dog, the one before you. Her name was Stardust too. But she, she died when she was hit by a car." She stopped, biting her tongue. What made her say that?

Stardust whimpered and nuzzled against Shay's arm, trying to be comforting. She looked up with 'puppydog eyes'.

Shay looked down and smiled as she felt a nudge. She stared into the pups deep brown eyes. She suddenly stood up. "Well, you need some food. Come on, you can come too." she grabbed her by the waist and cradled her in her arms. Smiling, she left the room and apartment, not knowing she was being watched.

Stardust smiled, curled up in Shay's arms. She was glad to have someone to care about her, being she was the last member of her species and all.

Jarret watched, he wanted to talk to her. That and he wanted to help her with the puppy. He followed but didn't let her see him just yet.

Shay walked around the block, and turned to the pet store. The bell rang as she opened it. She quickly walked the isles, and grabbed a bag of puppy food.

Jarret came in and got a chew toy. He came up behind her. "Hey Shay, I was just coming here to buy the pup a chew toy." he said.

Shay jumped, startled. She spun around to see Jarret. SHe let out a breath. 'Why? I can take care of her fine." she didnt say it angry. She said it more puzzled.

"I just love puppies, they're so cute." said Jarret, petting Stardust's head. "What'd you name her?"

Stardust wagged her tail as the boy petted her. From what she could tell, the kids loved each other.

"her names Stardust" she said softly. She shifted the bag, it was getting kinda heavy. "There is something special about her." atleast she thought she was.

Stardust barked happily, showing she liked the attention, trying to act like a dog as best she could.

Jarret smiled. "All animals are special in their own way." he said. "Its how things are." he said. "But she's a good pup, I'm sure you'll be happy."

"I guess thats true." shay said,"but I think she's a bit more special than usual is all. She looked down as Stardust barked. She grinned and grabbed the toy from Jarret, waving it infront of her face.
