Ok, great. It took a while for some porn to be pulled down off the board. It *did* eventually happen though.
I guess I must be missing something. What exactly do you all want? What would make you happy? Someone to be guarding the site 24 hours a day? Well, guess what, that isn't going to happen. Unless the moderators create a schedule that works for all of them and that they will follow as strictly as a job their being paid for it's not going to happen. You can complain all you like, but a bunch of teenagers and 20-somethings aren't going to treat an unpaid, thankless moderator job on a website about a cartoon animal as though it were a job or anything more than a low to medium priority. They are just not going to. And frankly, they shouldn't have to.
It's unfortunate that some troll posted some porn. Yeah, that really sucks. But you know what? On a website with this type of traffic, dealing with this subject matter, and with this volume of visitors, it's going to happen. It's inevitable. It gets dealt with as soon as it is feasible to do so.
I really don't know what more you expect.
Oh, and Jersey? While you're busy making fun of people's speech patterns, why don't you go right ahead and nominate some people to be moderators for this site. You don't have the stomach to deal with it, as you just said yourself. So come on. Man up and tell us what the big fix is here. Who are these great and wonderful mods that will fix everything right up?
Truth is, you don't have the first clue. You *KNOW* beyond a doubt that you don't wanna do it, but you've got nothing better to do that deride those who are man enough to.

Well, I guess I can fall back on that classic stand-by: "Who cares?" Seriously, why do either of you two care so much about a website? It's not your website; you don't own it and you don't put forth any financial aid to running it. So why do you give a rip about how the mods or, through them, Steet run the site? Remember, if you really don't like the mods and you really don't like how things are done, then you can leave. No one makes you come here. No one makes you post in the forums. No one makes you chat in the shoutbox or otherwise interact with the website. So why do you care so much? It's utterly silly to have that much of an emotional investment in something that you can't control and can't influence.
If you don't like how things are run, or you don't like how the mods act, then you're free to leave the site. That's what I did. I didn't like the general tenor of the website and its patrons. So I left. And I've stayed gone, by and large. Sure, I"ll duck back in once in a while, to see if the people I befriended are still here. And to stir up some controversy with the same old people who can't let things go. But really, I don't come around anymore. And you know what? No one cared that I didn't come around anymore. No one gave a fart in a windstorm.
And guess what, Jersey? No one will care if you leave, either. If they cared about you to any degree, they already have your IM, or E-mail, or phone number. If not, then they won't miss you when you're gone. That much is certain. So really, if you're that dissatisfied, then leave.
It all comes back to that one, irrefutable point. All the logic in the world can't refute it, all the well-reasoned or well-meaning arguments can't touch it, and none of the cajoling, pontificating, endless complaining will stop it. It's the single best argument I've had, and it's one I and others have used from the very first day I came on the boards and saw an argument much like this one.
Do you know what it is?
YOU CAN'T WIN.
Let that sink in for just a moment.
You have no power on this site. You're not a mod. You're not the owner. Therefore, you have exactly as much power to work your will as I do. And that amount is none. Zero. Nothing. You can't influence change because you have no say. Unlike some people want to believe, this is not a democracy or republic. You don't vote the moderators in or out. Steet, because he buys the bandwidth that the site runs on, has all the power. He could take the site down tomorrow if he wanted. And, by his decree and the decree of the other mods, the rules are imposed on you and on me. So, frankly, as I've said from day one, all the complaints about policy and rules on this site are moot from the very first statement. It doesn't matter what you think and it doesn't matter what you want. It doesn't matter that you don't think it's fair, or that you think that it could be so much better another way. It doesn't matter that you have the most well-reasoned, well-argued, well-researched idea on earth. IT WON'T DO ANYTHING. The mods will only change when and if they decide to. And, really, there is no incentive to change anything. There is no incentive for them to add more complexity and responsibilities to their jobs. They don't gain anything monetarily from being a mod. And it certainly isn't important that you or anyone else thinks they should treat it like a sacred vow. They'll do what the please. You have no power here.
Which brings it all home in a nice package. You have no power to change anything. And yet, you still seem to believe that a reasonable argument will change things. It won't. If the mods wanted your opinion on how to run the site, they'd ask you. If you had some open opinions, you could have emailed them to Steet, or to a mod without wasting your breath in here. The mods have seen your concerns and they are duly noted. There's no reason for you to make these arguments again and again other than to impress yourself with you own speaking.
You can't change anything. You won't change anything. Your arguments are moot from day one. Why do you care so much about changing something that ultimately doesn't affect you in any way and that ultimately, you have no power over.

Same reason all other people care about websites, they want to help out. And the rant bored lets off steam. (And This is a Site problem) Quote: No one makes you post in the forums. Quote: If you don't like how things are run, or you don't like how the mods act, then you're free to leave the site. Well I have friends here, I do enjoy talking on the Shout Box, Role-Playing, I like to paticipate in the site, and I don't like it when there are trolls messing up the site. You left the site, But I don't want to. Quote: No one cared that I didn't come around anymore. No one gave a *****. So what? What's that have to do with anything? Quote: And guess what, Jersey? Let that sink in for just a moment. This is a game? Some kind of test? :/ Is that what this is to you? A game? Quote: You can't influence change because you have no say. This topic is also a suggestion, and so far, it's reached a few mod's eyes. And I think it influnced a few mods. I've seen a few more active now. Quote: The mods have seen your concerns and they are duly noted. Is that a opinion or a fact? Quote: You can't change anything. You won't change anything. I doubt you can predict everything.

Frankly Jersey (not to be rude, of course), and everyone who has expressed concern about this issue (and I won't deny that it's not one) it's not that we by and large don't know that there is a problem, or that we don't really care to resolve it, we just haven't found a good way yet. I'm not going to use the tired old excuses, because usually, that is indeed what they are. The simple answer is that we just don't have a solution to this problem at the moment, and that's been pretty much due to that fact that we have not been able to agree on one that we think will really solve this and other issues, not just half-way solve it. So far, that's what I've encountered when there has been discussion of anything on this matter. If you guys do have some suggestions for solutions, we're all ears. Take this one for example: JerseyCaptain wrote: Kolton wrote: I agree with this xD I get what your saying, JC. I mean, Sure mods cant be working forever but they should just take a few minutes to come on and check ;P I wanted to be a mod and still do, but Steet ''forbids'' anyone asking I get it, cuz there will be too many asking for the job. I think I would make a great mod, Since im like on when im wake up till I go to sleep xD Well dont get me wrong, I do go outside and stuff XD I know the rules and responsiblilites and how to use it (Im on a mod on a similar fourm like this one.) But as much as I would like to do the job, I wont ask. Pushing that aside, New mods would be nice, but old ones are just as good. I dont mind how many mods there are, I dont see why people who complain about more mods :/ but anyway, Some people would like the job and eventually, some people will get it cuz I could imagine people being more busy in real life, with jobs and such and just leaving the site or wanting to be a regular member. But hey that's my opinion and I stand by it. You know, frankly, I don't know why there is such a stigma upon people applying to be mods. On this site, it is a proverbial death sentence to one's chances to ask. Granted, a lot of immature and very incapable kids and teens ask (a LOT)...but there are also some mature teens, young adults AND adults (as well as wise, clever and logical) who present a real untapped pool of talent. Perhaps, if steet had an on-site application process, where the applicant could key in certain information, and click on one of a few choices to questions, it would help (A LOT). This is something Togo could review (this is one of his current jobs anyway...to make considerations about potential moderators, and then pass those recommendations on to steet for a final yes or no. ... Actually, I think this is a pretty good idea. For a long time, I've noticed that forbidding any sort of application for a moderator job has severely limited our pool to choose from. I don't know what Steet would say about this, but I certainly think that at least considering writing up a semi-complex application and then further creating a sort of interview procedure to follow would greatly aid us in the future when we were looking for new mods. As stated before, it would have to be somewhat long (due to the amount of immature members who more than likely will ask) so that we could truly determine which applicant would be the most beneficial to the site. But, that shouldn't be too hard to do, really.

You look around, take note of some people, and watch them. Actually I think the staff really doesn't care to resolve it. There are some capable people on the staff, and if they wanted to resolve it, it would have been fixed already. Additionally, please do not pose "we're all ears" to us. Another person on the staff already did that, and we all see where that went. Nothing happened. My suspicion is that asking us for that has become a ploy of sorts to shut us up. Simply put, this staff is swimming in a pool of their own apathy where this issue is concerned.

Okay, hope you don't mind my adding on. I agree, we need new mods! Either that or our current mods need to wake up! And I have to personally thank you Anui(is that how you spelt? If not, sincerely sorry for getting it wrong!) for closeing my topic. Of crouse, it took a day or so later, but eventually it did get locked. And well, I really don't like that. Heh... I want stuff to happen in.. well, 3 hours at max!
JC has a point, so does KZ. Heck, eveyone yes even you Hrry... You all have points because this is a really hard topic to discuss without getting into huge arguements! So many sides, if there's porn or foul content, including bleeping, I understand that majority want us to have it removed in a short amount of time like... 3 hours?
I understand that majority is adult and teenager, but we still have kids! Heck, I'm trying to get my little brother intrested in this set of sites! I don't want him to cuss, but he's already cussing! He's going to have a huge problem if he continues it. So, I'd like to get no cussing sites that exclude bleeping and try to help him cool it.
Mods, please take note and start taking less heart and say that this one is inactive and needs to be dropped if they don't get on in so and so time! As Ghost said in such a lovely fashion, it is not that hard! So hurry up and get off your rumps and get to work on creating a faster, better system! It's simple, start with updates. KZ complains constantly about how you guys neglect the other sites on updates!
Do we have a suggestion/complain thread or forum section somewhere? If not, please start one! I believe it'd relieve of threads like these and such. :3 Alright, thank you all for reading!

Speaking only for myself here: My home computer has been broken (and still is) which has meant little to no internet access for me. I also admit to not being around a lot before it broke, though that was because my depression was worse and frankly all I was doing was sitting around at home feeling miserable.
Some pretty interesting ideas have been brought up mind. I like GU's idea of the "forum update" thing. I never thought of that either.
I do also have to agree with Lux that it's not easy to make everyone happy around here. I remember 2 seperate times when 1: people were complaining about not enough mods and then 2: people were complaining about too many. (This was a looonnngggg time ago, I don't want to spend hours I don't have searching for old topics about it). Seriously though if you have a suggestion for a new mod, PM us. We'll discuss it. Got a suggestion for how we can improve it, post it in suggestions or PM us. (Preferably put in suggestions).
Who knows, in the future we may even be able to consider having member voting on new mods. I know some forums which do that to good effect.
