If Looks Could Kill *Graypaw and Black Rose*

Jake walked in to be meet by the whole pack gathered around him, wanting to hear the news. "RedClaw is dead. BoulderFur has taken his place with RowanTail as deputy," Jake said in monotone before reatreating to his room. There was a moment of silence as the shcok soaked in, but the cheering soon started. Jake laid down in his room, needing the rest priscribed to him more than ever.

Marie was shocked into silence at the news. She retreated from the building unnoticed. She walked solemnly through the streets and evetually through the woods. She hadn;t realized that she was coming closer and closer to the border.

Graystripe could smell dogs. He ducked under a holly bush and peered through the leaves. He caught sight of the dog who had helped him back to his home. He took a deep breath and stepped out of the holly bush, in view of the dog. "Hey! You there!" He hissed, calling out to the she-dog.

Marie gasped when she saw the cat. She looked around, only now realzing she was near the border. The cat didn't look like he wanted to fight, so she stopped were she was and looked at him with a tilted head. She wasn't going any closer though. "Yes?" she asked.

Graystripe waited for the dog's response. "I want to ask you a question," Graystripe began. "Why...why did you help me?" He sheathed his claws and unsheathed them, eager to know the answer to why this dog had bothered to bring him to his home instead of killing him.

Marie eyed the cat for a few seconds before answering. "What else was I supposed to do? Kill you?" she asked, knowing full well the answer to that question. She looked at her paws. "I don't know," she admitted. "I guess I knew that if anyone else found you, they'd kill you in an instant. So I decided to give you a fair fight and take you back to your clan to die another day."

Flame like hatred flamed in Graystripes eyes. Then it softened and he sat down. "You are much like me..." He began, "I believe we should not fight because of our differences and our wrongs. Even something the dogs did long ago doesn't keep me from what I think is right." He said, looking up at Marie.

Ooc//: Graystripe isn't young, he's not an elder either. More like a senior cat, and something terrible happened when he was young. You'll find out later

Marie nodded in agreement. "Yes, exactly. And even thought there was a generation that started this war, maybe we can be the generation to bring it to an end," she siad, voicing her opinoin on the matter, something she would never do in front of her pack.

Graystripe nodded and the smell of his clan was nearing. "Lets meet up again. In town square." He said before turning away. He added, "At sun down." and ran off towards the smell of the clan cats.

Marie was taken back from his request, but nodded in agreement. As she turned around and trotted back to the den building, Marie considered what she was getting herself into. If she made an alley of one of the clan cats, she would be torn between the two sides. She would have to just stay home at sundown and forget all aout Graystripe. She knew that she would probably go that night out of curiousity, but by the time she walked into the building she had completely convinced herself that she would be a good clan dog and not go.

Graystripe did his regular clan duties and at sundown, like every day at sundown, he had free time. He trotted into town square and looked around. She's not here yet. I'll just wait. He sat down and waited, watching the Aurora peek overhead.

Marie watched the evening patrol came back. Now would be the perfect time to go meet Graystipe. If she was goingl, that was. She decided to take a walk around town, only partailly planning to go to town square. Before she entered town square, she could see the gray cat waiting there. She depated going for a minute before curiousity overtook her. She walked up to Graystipe. "Alright, I;m here."

"I though you would never show!" Graystripe meowed. "Now. Some cats in my clan disapprove of the fighting. They can join us and maybe dogs from your pack and join us in a rebellion against the dogs and cats."

Marie blinked at Graystripe. "I don;t know how many dogs will join us, but do you really think a rebellion is possible?"

"I do think so. Some of your dogs must feel the same. And I know some house pets will join us." Graystripe ventured. He sat down and licked his paw, cleaning behind his ears. "Its going to rain. We cant be here long." He informed.

Marie looked at the ground, wondering what she was getting herself into. "Alright, I'll see what I can do," she finally said, agreeing to something she knew she would probably regret. "When should we meet again?"
