People have been predicting the end of the world since the beginning of time. I think the the world will end someday, but not 3 years from now. Did you know there is going to be a movie called '2012' and it's coming out next year? I saw it in the previews for the Transformers sequel at the movie theater. It showed a lot of the biblical plagues, and it looks interesting, but do I believe that we will all cease to exist on December 21, 2012? No.

I feel bad for the people that is going to worry themselves to death for the next 2 1/2 years about something that won't happen. Heck, I forgot who it was, but someone predicted that in late 2007, America would be destroyed. Let's see, still in America, so yeah, I don't pay attention to the people that want to use scare tactics to start stuff, its pathetic enough that a movie is being made over something that won't happen.

maybe the Mayans just got tired of making the calender and that was the final day they predicted, lol  But seriously, I doubt that the world will suddenly end on one particular day thought up thousands of years ago. That's something you would expect to see in a movie, but is extremely improbable in real life. Believe what you want, but I wouldn't worry about it.

It's all the same baseless garbage that the media hypes up every few years to scare people. I suggest that any 2012 thread be immediately locked.

It's not the media that comes up with this stuff, they just over-publicize it so that people will flock to the cinema whenever Armaggedon (sp?) type movies come out. However as for the whole locking 2012 threads, that's kind of harsh. Many people have heard about this idea (whether it's true or not I guess we'll see in a few years) and they should be able to express their opinions on it.

I doubt it has been technically proven, and so I will say again, AS members should be able to express their opinions on it, like in this thread.
