Everyone has their own ways of comfort. I loved his 80's music and I will miss him. Its one of the first celebrities I was actually extremely familiar with to die in my lifetime. Heath Ledger I wasn't even aware I had seen him in A Knight's Tale and it took me til The Dark Knight to realize that I did know him and that I would miss him. So when Michael died I was shocked. I actually knew who he was and I just was completely speechless. Rip ;[

RIP MJ
He was a good dude, in other more in others less.
He's another we took for granted.
I did read somehwere in the headlines of a magazine, 'Micheal Jackson: 6 months to live'. They might have been right.
Poor guy. He was always misunderstood.
Good music, good guy, though, not in all eyes.
Nonetheless, RIP MJ.

How can you say that without any distinct evidence? Michael Jackson enjoyed unbelievable popularity in the 80s, and he was still very much African-American in appearance (and showed no shame about that whatsoever). He probably dealt with some amount of racism like anyone does (and yes, there is reverse racism in this world as well). But to suggest that the condition he suffered under ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitiligo) was actually some crazy bid, using makeup or surgery, to stave off hypothetical racism directed at him is ridiculous (even though that claim has been made about him in the past). And it is utterly unfounded. In fact, Jackson himself was once accused of racism. An excerpt from the Wikipedia page about him reveals this item (which is documented): "In early 1996, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) issued a press release charging Jackson with antisemitism regarding lyrics in the song "They Don't Care About Us", the fourth single from HIStory.[103] The song had originally been recorded with lyrics that included the phrase "Jew me, sue me", and "Kick me, kike me". The ADL complained and Jackson responded by saying he would re-record the lyrics before the album went into production. However the ADL's press release charged that Jackson had performed the song live and included the lyrics in question during the live performance.[103] The dispute over the lyrics upset long-time Jackson friend Steven Spielberg, who considered the song anti-semitic.[104]"(Related footnotes from that page read: 103. ADL Outraged that Michael Jackson has reinstated anti-semitic lyrics into video version of "They Don't Care About Us", http://www.adl.org/presrele/ASUS_12/2662_12.asp
104. "Obituary: Michael Jackson". BBC News. June 26, 2009. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4612963.stm. Retrieved on June 28, 2009.) My suggestion is that you don't make any claims without some documentation. Racism has always been callously and arbitrarily slung about whenever anyone has called attention to Michael Jackson's more unusual behavior or even the physical ailments he suffered. Most of those accusations were utterly bogus. Thats why I said "MAYBE" people were racist to him in the 80s. I had no proof which is why I didn't say people were racist to him because I could find no proof. Not everything about someones life is documented and maybe he kept how he felt about that to himself. I did not mean racism was the sole cause of his disfunction or that it was a cause at all but that maybe it was a small reason. I really do believe his childhood itself was a big reason he also got the surgery, but I didn't want to blame it on just that. I've never really reasearched it to a big length and I'm not trying to cause a problem, but I'm tired of people dwelling on his plastic surgery self insted of his earlier life in the 80s when he did seem to enjoy who he was,I was just trying to justify why he might have got it.

First off No RIP's from me.. personally I find it rather Annoying that everyone is acting like this guy is God.. or Immortal, guess what he wasn't.. he's a human just like the rest of us.. He is no different than you guys or me, he just happened to have More money..and could sing and dance.. nothing that special in my eyes, just tells you where the priorities of the world lies..
I agree with JC here, in the fact that theres been a bunch of celebrities die lately and none of their deaths caused this much of an uproar as this did. seriously people die everyday.
I'm really getting tired of not being able to watch normal television anymore cus of all the MJ stuff popping up every second.. I understand he was an "Icon" or whatever but I know of alot better Musicains and entertainers out there.. Is there really any Dire need to play his "Legacy" video 4 times a day everyday? Now I'm not trying to be harsh but I just felt the need to get that off my chest.
Note that I don't wish death on anyone, and I'm not glad that he died but I'm not sad either... I will agree with you in the fact hes taking up alot of television shows. He still deserves a RIP though because as you said all people are human which means everyone who dies should be given an RIP. I know you said your not happy or sad about it though which is fine. I can agree its hard to miss someone you didn't know in person or didn't care for. I just liked his 80's music and admired his talent. I'm just an 80's music kind of person though.

You should realize that speculation, especially which brings up touchy subjects such as racism, is going to fuel emotional responses, and pointed debate. Especially where this particular celebrity is concerned (and the question of whether or not a black celebrity in America is ever subject to racism). People are going to dwell on all aspects of Michael Jackson's life now that he's died. And since there is a media blitz going on as a result of his dying, it is a foregone conclusion that all aspects of his life - the positive as well as the negative...the impressive as well as the looney - are going to be put under the spotlight. That is inescapable. If you're tired of that aspect, you probably shouldn't be following the discussions or the news reports. I watched the news story the day of his death and the day after then I moved on with my life. I usually watch the Travel Channel,Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet so his story does not affect my stations. I still listen to his music. I just made an assumption about him being partly affected from racism. It really isn't that big of a deal. Like I said the 80's Michael is my favorite and the way I shall choose to remember him. I was defending him in my first post though,I tend to defend many celebrities because you can't buy everything tv tells you. I've learned this through many ways. I keep an open mind. Just saying I wouldn't be suprised if he was a victim to racist remarks. I'm not racist either,it'd be pretty bad if I was since I have a friend from virtually every ethincy.

Note that I don't wish death on anyone, and I'm not glad that he died but I'm not sad either... First off, anyone dying deserves a RIP (terrorists excluded). Michael Jackson revlutionised dance. The way he danced had never been used before (Using "Thrilla" as an example), a similar dance move is used with all dance troops, and allot of single/dual dancers, then with Michael Jackson. He was, as they say "The King of Pop", and he deserves what he's getting. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be where we are now in dance moves.
