okay, my entry:
Name: Kenya
Age: 'bout 3-ish (somewhere round there)
Gender: Female
Breed: 1/2 german sheperd, 1/3 dutch shperd, 1/4 belgian sheep dog
Personality: sum it up in two words: reserved and cold. Kenya's life has left her to the point where she flat-out refuses to talk to anyone, unless it's a sarcastic comment or a commaned. She always has eaither a netural (sp?) exspression or a frown on her face. No one can ever recall ever seeing her smile or laugh, not even a little. She's very defensive about her background, so if anyone brings it up, they often get a snap in the face.
How they feel about being an army dog: "It's my job. What else have I got?" - Kenya. Basicly, she likes her job, and shes good at it, but being around all those guns brings up bad memories (which she, of course, refuses to tell anyone about).
History: Both her parents were German Sheperd mixes (her father mixed with a Dutch Sheperd, her mother a Belgian Sheep Dog) who lived together. Of course, they fell in love and the result was Kenya and her siblings. Kenya's mother got sick and died shortly after the pups were born. Kenya's father doted on her brothers and sisters, but never seemed to give her a second glance. Kenya tried everything to inpress him, but he would just yell at her for doing something crazy. So it was that Kenya spent her days by herself.
She eventuly was adopted by a woman who trained special service dogs for a living. Kenya was imeditly put into training, and she soon was put up for adoption to go to a new home. A couple came in one day with a young girl in a wheelchair. The girl and Kenya imeditly bonded, and Kenya was taken home with them. Kenya helped the girl (who was named Samatha/Sam) and the two became very close, and Kenya was a great help to Sam. Kenya lived with Sam for 1 year and 1/2, until one day, a man broke into the house and murderd Sam and her parents. Kenya was horrified beyond words.
The police put Kenya in a shelter, where she was adopted by a man who liked to hunt. Kenya was trained to hunt, but she got agressive when she saw another person with a gun, remembering how Sam had been killed. The man gave up on her after two weeks and bought another dog and sold her to a friend who lived in Canada (sp?) and trained sled dogs.
Kenya was trained and got quite good, but unluckly for her, the man was very superstitious (sp?). He saw her red tipped ears and red markings, along with her black coat, and imeditly pegged her as a "evil omen". This anoyed Kenya very much, because the other dogs on the team started avoiding her, belivng what their master said about her. Some of the man's friends even agreed with him that she was an "evil omen" and would wave their hands and say strange words whenever they saw her. Kenya got fed up when one of them waved a stick of garlic in her face, and she grabbed the sick and snapped it in half, then snarled. After this episode, the man sold her to a woman (Jane) who was a police officer.
Kenya's previous trainings made her a natural for the job, and she was on the force for a good few months, and after awhile, Kenya grew to like the job and wasen't so agressive around people with guns. The other dogs on the force, however, refered to her as "bloodstained" (her red markings) and teased her alot. Kenya grew cold toward them. One night, Jane was called to come to the site of a fire. When Kenya and Jane got there, the firemen and an ambulence were already there, along with some other officers.
People were shouting, and Kenya saw the flames grow larger and larger. Then a noise reached her ears. Crying. No one else seemed to hear it though, not even the other dogs. Taking action, Kenya ran toward the sound, which was comming from inside the burning building. Ignoring Jane's calls, Kenya ducked low and crawled into the house, under the smoke. Following the sound, Kenya found a small girl crouched in the celler of the house. The little girl was terrified, but seemed a little reassured when Kenya licked the girls cheek. The girl grabbed onto Kenya's neck, and Kenya crawled back outside under the smoke. Imeditly, they were swarmed by the firemen, docters, and the girls parents. After it was anounced the little girl would be fine, Kenya was crowded around by officers, firemen, doctors, and the girls parents. The little girl gave her a gold braclet and necklace with a white wing on it and thanked her for rescuing her.
A short time after this, Kenya realized the smoke from the fire had affected one of her eyes. It was a bit fuzzy to see out of it, and when she saw her reflection, it looked slightly paler then the other. Fearing Jane would take her off the force and she'd be sold again, Kenya spent all her spare time learning to adjust to her half-blurred vision. No one ever noticed and Kenya stayed on the force for a few more months. Then Jane bought a new dog, a young collie mix named Wendy. Wendy took a imedite liking toward Kenya and followed her around
everywhere. Kenya also grew very fond of the young pup, and soon the two acted more like a "mother-daughter" duo rather then partners.
After Wendy had been with them for three months, Jane decided to take the pup to work. Kenya, of course, went with, and about 3:00 in the afternoon, they got a call about a shooting. Jane and three other officers went, taking Kenya, Wendy, and two other dogs with. When they got to the sight of the shooting, a man was on the ground bleeding, and another was looking paniced and holding a pistol. Once the man saw the officers, he freaked out and started fireing. Kenya avoided the bullets, but Jane and Wendy couldn't. Kenya was frozen in place as both collasped to the ground. Dead.
Help came and they got the man arestead, but everyone was sullen about the deaths. Kenya was more then sullen. She was enraged and horrified. Just when her life had been looking up, it got smashed to pices in the
exzact same way it did the first time. A stupid man with a gun.
Kenya withdrew into herself, even when one of the officers offerd her a home for awhile. She refused to talk to anyone, and she never exspressed her feelings. Even around someone with a gun.
About a month after the incadent, the officer Kenya was staying with heard that the army was looking for dogs. He sent Kenya in for training. All of Kenya's past exsperiences made her ideal for the job, and she soon was put out with the other army dogs. Of course, she hardly said a word to any of them, and always kept a netrual exspression or a frown on her face, warning them to leave her
alone. A few of them, however, just won't take a hint and keep trying to get her to talk with them....
Likes: her job, her accersories (cause their from the little girl), the fact that no one has noticed her fuzzy-eye yet
Hates: guns (not scarred of them, just hates them), her fuzzy eye sight, being called a "evil omen" or "bloodstained", dogs trying to find out about her past
Fears: falling in love (shes afriad the guy she falls for will just be killed, like everyone else in her life), the slightest hint of happiness in her life (afriad it'll just be taken away again), her fuzzy eye being discoverd, being kicked off the team, bombs, exsplossions
Other: she wears a gold braclet and a gold necklace with a white wing attatched (not a pair of wings, just one) that the little girl gave her.
Theme Song: *not sure if this is allowed* "The River Sings" by Enya
