You're doing it by trying to convince others that you're right and they're wrong, and thus insulting others point of view almost saying it’s worthless. If someone likes something then who are you are or anyone else to tell them they're wrong? If I don't like something I'm not constantly trying to humiliate that 'thing' by saying how awful the 'band' and saying that anyone who likes it must be stupid or ignorant or have no taste. People are free to have different opinions in music but it’s not fair to constantly badger another fan just because there music doesn’t suit you, so you should just leave this thread you’ve made your point quite clear that you despise Nickelback so what else have you to gain? If it’s to turn people against music they like/love then you're going to lose.

Topics like this are NOT for people to go in and flame whatever artist! I know people who like Nickleback, and they are quite sane. Just because they are cliche does not mean that people are idiots if they listen to them! Respect others' opinions, please! People are not stupid, mentally challenged, or whatever, just because they like certain artists. Following the mainstream is not a psychological problem, either.

I advise all of you to stop this arguing at once! Any more and this and this topic will be locked. There are much nicer ways to disagree with other peoples' tastes in music. What I'm seeing here is not very respectable.

an as for ragin balto, you don seem ta understand that repittion is an artist's way of gettin a point across, thats why most songs have a chorus!

Just because there's no swearing doesn't mean that it can't be offensive to others. I mean, seriously, who wouldn't be offended if they were called "Shallow, mindless, drones who follow the mainstream without question,"?

I'm just saying that there are nicer ways of debating. The debates that I'm seeing here is just not very nice/respectful, but I'm giving everyone a chance to improve, rather than just locking this topic right now.

But I don't go to the lengths the cliché fans I think you're talking about go to. Death threats and such for example to those who dislike twilight.

I am not an obsessed fan, but I think they are better than....rap music.

Not true; I actually don't care much for Twilight.

I don't care for all of Nickelback's songs but I did like "Darkhorse" save for like four songs. The rest of their albums aren't horrible but they're not my favorite band(that goes to My Chemical Romance and Oasis).

Debating isn't really looked down upon here.
Insulting while debating and insulting in general are.

The reason why debating seems to be looked down upon is because members do not know how to properly and polity word their opinions, or take, understand, and respect the opinions of others. Most debates here end up being locked because it turns into a flame war when it involves such people.

If anything, debating is encouraged as long it's done correctly.
