BUMP

Luna looked over her shoulder and realized that Haydn and slowed and Dev was catching up. Everyone else was had yet to start running. "Guys, lets get a move on!" she shouted as she turned around to scold them.

"Yeah, thank us once we're out of here," Garret said, running with the rest of the group. "We don't even know where we're going yet."

"I;m fine," Cassie said as she picked herself up off the ground. She shook the dust from her fur. "But you're right. Lets catch up before we;re left behind." She started running after the others.

Dev slowed down slightly, waiting for the rest of the group, besides he didn't want to lead this little pack out of their home anyway. He looked over his shoulder, relieved to see that everyone was finally on the move. "Lets go!" he said immpatiently and growled, prancing around on his paws.

"Lets go Cassie..." Brynn said as he got up and trotted away, waiting for Cassie to follow, when she ran past him he could do nothing but run after her.

Haydn gracefully trotted after Dev, pausing when he did, stopping when he did, and looking behind them when he did. She sat down while waiting for the others, seeming to not be nervous at all.

Luna sat down with a sigh to wait for the others to catch up to her. She was a few feet in front of Dev. She was anxious to get out and run, but everyone else seemed to be taking their good old time. "How 'bout we quicken the speed?" she said loud enough for everyone to hear.

Garret trotted passed Dev and Haydn. He waited for Brynn and Cassie to catch up to the rest of them before running passed Luna and leading the group North.

"I guess we're following Garret," Cassie said in a voice that showed that this wasn't a surprise but it did annoy her slightly that he always took the lead of the group without giving the others a chance.

"C'mon!" Brynn hissed impatiently at Dev as he sprinted past his brother, using his tail like a whip on his brothers nose to make him get started. "Unless you wanna get left behind!" Brynn taunted.

That was it. Dev was up on his feet and sprinting after his brother "you're gonna regret everything you just said there bro!" Dev taunted teasingly, showing that he was just kidding by playfully nudging Brynn.

Haydn's eyes followed Garret as he took the lead in the front of the pack. She shook her head and grinned at the two brothers "fighting" and sprinting so she was running side by side next to Luna.

Luna got up and ran after Garret as soon as he passed her. She glanced at Haydn when she came beside her. She decided just to ignore the light brown wolf, like she often did, and consentrate on keeping Garret in sight.

Cassie giggled at the two brothers. She looked ahead when she smelt the distant scent of... something. It reminded her of the rings but it was also nothing like it. "Does anyone else smell that?" she asked.

"Yeah," Garret called over his shoulder without missing a step in his run. "It's called the smell of the city." The trees started to thin out and up ahead the bright lights of apartments and skyscrapers were visible. Garret slowed to a stop a good distance from the city.

Dev sprinted to catch up to Garret and skidded to a halt when he did. "What are we going to do?" he breathed, staring in wonder at the tall tall buildings. He glanced at Garret out of the corner of his eye then looked back at the rest of their group.

Haydn rolled her eyes Luna and slowed down to trot beside Cassie. "Are you scared?" Haydn asked her friend, wondering if Cassie reflected her same worries and fear.

Brynn slowed to a trot and walked slowly up to Garrets left side. For once he had nothing to say but just stared at the Skyscrapers in wonder.

"Well, we'll have to sneek in there are wolves and get some clothes," Garret said. "Then we have to go in there like humans and make sure that Fletch dones't find us. We're gonna have to make a living in this city now."

Cassie gave a nervous laugh. "Well, yeah, a little. None of us have ever lived in a city before, especailly not as people. How are we suppsed to survive this?"

"Hold on, I didn't bargain to trade in my fur for skin," Luna said, trotted up to Garret and Dev. "I thought once we got away we were gonna go on the run. As wolves."

Haydn nodded her head sympathetically toward Cassie. "I don't want to NOT be a wolf...I can't remember the last time the I wan't a wolf and it would be so wierd to change that now...at least we're away from Fletch thought all we have to do is stick together."

Dev nodded and listened intently to what Garret said. "Maybe we should only sned in two or three of us...just so we don't jepordize all of our lives-" But he was cut short by Luna who had approached Garret with a question that was gnawing at his mind as well.

"I totoally agree with Luna!" Dev said stubbornly, moving to stand next to Luna. "We never really fit the human category and to suddenly change ourselves so we do would be crazy! We're not normal! We will never be normale and theres no way that we can even pretend to."

Cassie sighed. "Yes, that is a small comfort." She glanced over at the city. "But where else can we go but there? If we stay wolves, Fletch will recognize us. He is sure to check the woods. That's the obvious place we would go."

"Exactly," Garret said to Cassie. He turned back to Dev and Luna. "Don't you see. Fletch will find us if we stay in the woods and live as we have. We need to make this sacrifice and go beyond our comfort zone to survive. Do you think that Fletch will let is live now that we've escaped once?"

Luna glared at Garret. "I don't care what you think. I am not going in there." She stamped her foot for affect.

"Other wolves have done it," Garret said, in one last attempt to make the group not seperate. "Why not us?"

Because we're not like them. Like other wolves that live amongst people," Luna argued.

Dev sat down stubbornly his yes narrowed at his brother as he said "i'm not gonna change from being a wolf...I vote we should just get as far away from Flecth as we possibly can...he'll give up sooner or later!"

"Oh will he?" Brynn sneered as he approached his brother within two graceful leaps and got up in his face. "Thats what Fletch will expect! for us to go a long distance away in our wolf form! are you to much of an idiot to understand that the closer we are to him the least he'll expect?"

Dev glared at his brother and glanced at Garret, wondering what he thought of this. He kept his mouth shut though, he wanted to stay in his wolf form and he would do almost anything to get the others to agree.

Haydn glanced back and forth at the brothers and almost chuckled at the look on Dev's face when he realized that Brynn was right. She took another glance at the city, then looked at Garret and took a deep breath. "I'm willing to follow you Garret..." she said in a quiet voice, knowing that he would protect them all, along with Brynn.

"And I'm going into the city," Garret said sternly to Dev and Luna. "You two do what you want." He started walking toward the city. "For all those coming with me, we'll make camp closure to the city. We all need a good sleep after that bit of excitement. I'll go into the city and pick up some clothes for all of us. In the morning, we'll each go in and meet up back at camp at the end of the day to see what everyone's found out." He sighed. "We'll make this work. Somehow." He trotted down the small hill and looked for a good place to make camp.

Cassie looked at Brynn and Haydn, not wanting to be the first to follow after Garret. Then, she glanced at Luna and Dev. "I guess we'll see you guys later?" she said in an unsure voice to the two before padding in the direction Garret had disappeared.

"I doubt it," Luna said, not sparing even a spark of happiness in her voice for the white and brown wolf even though it might be the last time they see each other. "Have fun with the humans."

"You sure you guys don't wna to come with us?" Haydn asked in a small voice, remembering the few fun times that her and Dev had shared. She glanced back at the two before trotting slowly after Garret, pausing to wait for Cassie to catch up.

"Don't do this Dev..." Brynn hissed through his teeth as he looked back to see Garret, Haydn, and Cassie walking away. "You both will be more vulnerable by yourselves! this will work better if we stick together! that was the plan from the beginning! doesn't that matter to you?" Dev asked, almost pleading for his brother and Luna to go with them.

Dev stared at his brother for a long time, then glanced at Luna. "I do what Luna does, thats how it works brother..." Dev said, as he stared down at his paws.

Brynn let out an aggitated breath and lowered his head. "Can't you ever think for yourself?" Dev whispered and swallowed, then turned away to follow the rest, knowing that this might be the last time he would ever see his twin brother Dev. "Bye Dev..." was all that he could say.

"Oh, just go with them," Luna said to Dev, showing some emotion besies anger for a long time. "I can manage as a lone wolf. I don't want to be the reason you get seperated from your pack."

Garret didn't stop until he had found a small clearing. He looked back and saw Haydn, Cassie, and Brynn following. He sighed. "I guess the pack really is spilting up." he said with remorse.

"Isn't there something we can do?" Cassie asked no one in peticular. "Some way we can convince them to come with us? I mean, Dev doesn't deserve to be abandoned like this."

"We're not abandoning anybody," Garret said firmly. "They made their choice not to come with us. This is the choice that will save all of us from Fletch. If they don't want that, we can't do anything about it."

"No Luna...i'm coming with you," Dev said firmly, he coudln't meet his brother in the eye so he waited until Brynn walked away to look up at Luna again.

"Yeah, we have to stick together!" Haydn said, agreeing with Cassie instantly. Just as Brynn walked up and said:

"We need them back...Devs our biggest guy and we'll loose alot without him!" Brynn argued, trying to hide the sadness in his voice. "And Luna is strong, shes a great fighter, shes just stubborn..."
