Name:Persephone (Perr-sef-oh-nee) Francis-Marie Harlington (oh, come on, anyone who sends their dog to a posh class like that would have a name like that themselves

)
Sex:Feeeemale
Age: 3 years
Breed: A tall, willowy Saluki
Personality: in a way, she's a bit of a misfit of the class. Even though she looks and sounds the part, she truly hates every minute of the class and spends most of her time day dreaming romantic day dreams of how her prince charming will come and rescue her from her misery. Yes, she's quite the un-realistic romantisist, and sees her life as some kind of fairytale.
History: As a little puppy, She was brought up by an extremely rich and posh lady, and at first she excelled at being a little posh lady herself, and saw it as her life's pride. (This was before she went to the classes.) Then one day, she was out on a walk, when she was going past a dark, scummy alley in London, and she saw a gang of scruffy street-pups routing through some dustbins. Like all rich dogs when they see strays, she felt a mixture of disgust, fear and curiousity surge through her. But as she had beeen told to do when she met ruffians, to carry on walking, that is what she did, raising her dainty nose high in the air, putting one delicate paw gently infront of the other. Then she got the shock of her life when the gang...burst out laughing. They were laughing. Howling with laughter. At HER.
Suddenly, she felt stupid, ashamed of herself. It was all her life's work and all she'd ever known - being the best stuck-up snobby little lady she could- and they were laughing at her. She felt her cheeks burning as she quickened her pace and hurried on past. She heard the laughing change into mocking wolf-whistles and cat-calls, and then when she glanced back she saw to her horror that they were all doing hirlarious impressions of her, and bursting out laughing all over again. She noticed that there was just one pup who wasnt joining in, and instead was staring at her with the same curiousity that she had stared at them.
She walked on, feeling deeply humiliated for the first time ever. She forgot her perfect walk, so deep was her sadness, and started tripping and stumbling blindly. Soon she realised she was lost. Only then did the tears come trickling down her cheeks.
"Er.....hi!" a young male voice said behind her. She whipped around to see the pup who hadn't been laughing at her. Had he followed her all this time? He seemed unsure of himself, as if he didn't know how to act in her presence.
"Hello." She said normally back, and was suprised at how snobby and stupid her voice suddenly sounded. Fresh tears sprang into her eyes, and seeing them the pup quickly said "Don't worry about my friends...They're...well...you know. I'm Rags."
"My name is Persephone," she winced again, "But you can call me Sephy. A pleasure to meet you, um..Rags." He smiled playfully at her.
"You're lost."
"I am not!" she cried indignantly.
"Yeah you are. Well, I can help you get back to Hyde park, if ya like."
Hyde Park! She could easily get home from there! He saw her face light up and smiled.
"Well, c'mon, then."
When they got there, a wind had started up, and Sephy felt her perfect fur being ruffled and messed up, and she gasped out loud.
"Wot?" Rags asked, and grinning, reached over. "Tag!" The two of them had a great time, as soon as Sephy understood the very simple game, and after a bit of encouragement was running free as a bird. She felt the cool breeze blow through her fur, and felt the soft English grass thudding beneath her feet, and felt more free and happy then she had ever felt before. She felt, for once, like a normal dog, free of all her silly airs and graces. Only once, when she landed in a patch of thick mud did she gasp out loud.
"I'll get that off, yer Majesty." Rags said cheekily, and splashed her with lake water, laughing. After a stunned silence, she joined in laughing too. Then she ran into the lake and splashed him back, giggling.
"PERSEPHONE!" A furious voice shouted across the park, and her owner, dressed in all her finery, came storming across hte park, to where Persephone stood, covered in muddy water. Persephone whimpered and her tail shot between her legs, she had never seen her owner so angry at her. But to her suprise, she was whipped up into her owner's arms, as if away from some kind of threat.
"Shoo, you disgusting, filthy animal!" She screeched, and aimed a hefty kick at Rags, who shot away, yelping. "Good riddance, you little mongrel." She hissed before turning around sharply and walking out of the park. Sephy scrabbled wildly to look over her owner's shoulder and catch a glimpse of Rags, and when she did, she saw in his eyes such a look of hurt and pain and confusion, that her heart ached just to look at him. She wanted to bark to him, to reassure him, but he was gone from view, and it felt like her world had torn in two.
"As for you, young missy." Her trainer looked at her, her eyes burning like coals."You have disgraced yourself and I beyond measure. I have no choice but to send you to classes. Think of it as suitable punishment for your appaling behaviour." Of course, Sephy didn't understand a word of it, but she could tell her owner was furious with her, and a big change was about to take place, a change that would mean, in her eyes, that she could never experience being a "normal" dog again....
How they feel about Magna: Unlike some of the others, she isn't just befriending Magna because her auntie takes the classes, and therefore might smile on them if they are kind to her neice, and she wants Magna to know that. She hears that she comes from some cold, snowy country far away, and wants to hear more, becasue to her, it sounds like the myths, legends and fairy stories she is so secretly fond of.
Other: She is named after the Greek Godess Demeter's daughter, who was kidnapped by Hades, the underworld God, because of her beauty. The whole Earth mourned her loss, and this period of time is called Autumn and Winter. But when Persephone is allowed to the surface, the Earth Rejoices, and this period of time is Spring and Summer. So that was how the Greeks explained the seasons. Cool, eh?

Her name also means "serene night".
