Blackclaw opened his mouth to let the scents flood in. There was one foul scent among the sweet RiverClan scents. ShadowClan! he thought.

They scooted to a stop. Mistyfoot Lifted her nose, tasting the air. "ShadowClan! You were right, Voletooth. Wer're nowhere near the border!" Voletooth narrowed his eyes. "I can only wonder what they're doing here," He snarled. "What do you make of it, Blackclaw?"

Voletooth sniffed. He thought he caught a familiar scent among the reek of ShadowClan. "You guys go ahead," He called over his shoulder, "I'll catch up."

Blackclaw nodded and began to walk away. He sniffed the air, but the scent was gone. "Wjy is it... gone?" He murmured to himself.
