Kira gave a slight nod before replying, "Okay. I will!" And with that, she took back her sword and ran back up the stairs towards the top deck. "Just stay here!" she called out to Katie, still running up the stairs. "We'll come get you when it's all over..."

Katie pulled her knees to her chest as she heard the battle rage on. Soon she heard victory calls as the commotion ceases. The pirates had won. A tear leaked from her eye. She wondered who had survived. Her father? Her brother? Kira? She swallowed, knowing that soon the pirates would raid the ship and she would be discovered. She climbed deeper behind the barrel, praying not to be found.

Kira felt herself go unconcious for only a minute, but she suddenly woke up on a broken part of the ship. She then gasped with surprised and sat up, the sunlight blinding her for an instant. She then felt a slight pain in her arm and turned to it to see that it was bleeding heavily. She then sighed half with relief and turned back up to the sky, thinking with a smirk, Why am I even still alive after that horrible fight?...

Katie had been completely still and silent until the moment her barrel was suddenly swiped aside. And before her was a pirate. She could instantly tell by his stance and looks that he was most certainly the captian, though he was not much older than herself. Katie gapsed as the sword was drawn, unsure of what she should, or could, do. She stared at him in silent shock for precious moments until she finally whispered, "What has become of my crew?" All she wasnted to know was who had survived before her life was also taken.

It felt like Katie's world had just collapsed with that blow to the chest. She swallowed back the sudden tears that were dangeriously close to spilling over. She took a deep breath. Showing weakness in front of this pirate would not prolong her life. "And I expect that I will not be that one exception for longer?" she askec calmly, keeping a cool head.

"I don't want your sympathy," Katie snapped, so torn up that she was emotionally unstable. "I don't care if you kill me! I just want my family back." And that was all she could take. Having it said made it real. She erupted in tears, but struggled desperately to pull herlsef together again. She hid her face in her hands, wiping desperately at the tears.

Katie tried to push him away, but didn't have the strength. She wanted comfort, but she wanted it from her family and friends. Not a pirate. Not the pirate that killed them all. "Why do you even care?" she spit at him. "You're a pirate. You kill for a living."
