Really the only thing I have issues with is the high pitched screams. Weak Willed I can do almost perfectly...if it weren't for that stupid high pitch. I can come close...but not quite there. Shayde: I got to meet him. I just kinda stuck around with my friends and they came back out and started hangin out with us. If you have the ATR Live DVD I was at the Philadelphia show they were taping. I wanted to knock the "Thrash Dancers" out. At a metal show, it's mosh, or headbang. Not swing your arms around like a moron...

Actually I can do it all, including the inhale screaming spot on on almost EVERY song. And I can do This Calling and The Weak Willed 100% perfect as well. Shayde: I got to meet him. By chance do you have the Melissa Cross DVDs "The Zen of Screaming?" It's a BIG help in learning to control your breathing and screaming more powerfully and consistantly. The higher screams are Inhale screams, the lower ones are Exhale screams, you can go a LOT higher and hold longer with inhale screams whereas exhales are too low and deep to hold for long timeframes. My range is between B4 and G3 and the highest note I've ever hit was a staggering G5 on a practice cover of Dream Theater's "Octavarium" A great example of a great exhale screamer is Matt Heafy from Trivium, specifically on the Ascendancy record, and most recently Shogun. he is the reason I learned how to hit those notes after seeing how versatile they can be used correctly...

Ah yes, Trivium. Anytime I have "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" come up on my iPod, I have to scream it. I love those notes. I'll try that inhale scream. Actually, I'm bored right now. I think I'll go for a drive and try it out. Thanks for the tips man!

Shadowstorm wrote: One more important thing though. you need to be careful not to go higher than your range permits or you'll screw your vocal chords up bigtime, I had a huge rupture one night after trying to hit a note my vocal chords couldn't handle and wound up needing a month and a half break which killed me as you can already imagine
I will openly tell you getting to the point I'm at skills wise was a rocky and long darkened road so I suggest you keep the notes at the highest under an F6 to start out with inhales for a safety net in case something was to go wrong.... Woah you use your vocal chords to scream? That could be why I wasn't able to do the inhale. It's much much easier on your throat if you only use your chords to trap air in you lungs and push with your diaphram. Don't use your voice at all. The rasp will come from above your chords. It's hard for me to describe. It's a technique I learned from the Melissa Cross DVDs I mentioned earlier. The warm-ups are also very helpful (Though embarrassing if you're around people. haha).
