I agree with this topic, people getting mad at new RPers for not being able to roleplay on a high level is expecting to much from someone. The thing is, we should teach them to be much better instead of tearing them down and possibly driving a potentially good roleplayer from the site, which is a terrible thing to do. I always teach new roleplayers that join my RPs instead of hurting their feelings, the rest of the people in the roleplay aren't always so kind which can kill the roleplay but better the roleplay than someone's enthusisam.

I have to dis-agree with something you posted : "We" shouldn't. Many [people] have diffrent styles of RPing. While some are only intrested in killing time and shouldn't be helped, the new RPers gain more experience by learning or reading offical tips. *Or reading Fanfics, Or Well written books. I don't think it's neccesary to "Guide" New RPers all the way. It's leading them. They need to find their own way and their own Type of RPing.

What I meant by this is I help them with simple grammer and if they aren't abiding by the guidelines, with that as well. I naturally don't force them to go with my style of roleplaying, that would just be rude, I just help them with stuff that everyone needs.

Lemmie just say, that it's harsh and cruel, but it's also somewhat true.
I've drifted mostly around the "Other RPs" section, so I don't know if this applies to Balto or TLK as much, but it surprises me how some RPs can be carbon copies to each other as far as plot goes. And compared to today's issues of originality, it far surpasses the issue of members having correct spelling and grammar. Most often a thread-starter will say in their first post something to the effects of "This is my world, this is my character, here are the rules, have fun." There's no direction and characters go running around freely without any sort of purpose.
Then there's the RPs that have over 200 pages worth of content -- which wouldn't be bad if every post didn't contain a single line of text. But they should be tightening the leash on that now. Don't get anyone started.
Perhaps I may be too critical, in which case, it's just me. But I really must be frank and honest when I say that I simply wince when reading some of the RP summaries going around. I'm no one to say that a story is good or bad, of course. But you don't have to see what ones I may be talking about when you go over there and see how many RPs have actually failed before the starting post was even made.
