I gotta disagree with ya. By appreciating how humorous those laws are now it gets people(at least me) interested in why they were made and it makes people think about why this or that happened and how. There are many ways to appreciate history and humor is one of them.

I don't agree. I don't see anyone discussing "why they were made", or "why this or that happened and how" (except maybe Canis Lupus' reply to my comments). All I see are comments such as:

"...does your state have any really stupid or pointless laws that make ya wonder what was wrong with the person who created them?"

"I don't really know allot of michigan's stupid laws, all I know is that it's a crappy state and it is sooooooo messed up."

"Florida has some stupid ones..."

Among others.

A discussion which is composed of various ways of saying "man, that's dumb" or throwing in silly what-if scenarios when discussing them, does not constitute an intellectual discussion, much less anything more than very low-brow humor at best. All I see is shades of Beavis & Butthead ("That sucks, Beavis! Uuh huh huh, uuh huh huh." "Yeah, yeah! Sucks! Mmm-heh heh! Mmm-heh! Those laws suck!")...

Hey - I just contributed my thoughts to this. I'm not saying anyone has no right to say what they will. I am simply saying it is vacuous, unintelligent drivel to just post ridiculing these old laws with no substantive discussion ABOUT them. As much as you (or anyone in here) is entitled to do so, so I am entitled to do as I have done.

Dude, chill out. It's not like anybody is forcing ya to post on this topic or even look at it for that matter so don't get so worked up. If ya don't like it then why do ya come back to this topic? Just ignore it if it bothers ya that much.

There is no "chilling out" necessary. I am contributing my thoughts to the discussion.

Yeah, but all ya are doing is getting on people's cases because they are taking history too lightly or whatever without considering the circumstances and whatnot. I think we get your point so lay off us for finding some humor in history.

I agree with JC, wildtiel and Canis Lupis.

I most agree with the fact that those laws have faded.

@whitewolf: I think JerseyCaptain deserves to speak his mind on what were telling, so let him if hesnot being rude about it.

And I want EVERYONE to know these laws are probably not even laws anymore.

The ones I posted still are.

I have no problem with him speaking his mind but I do have a problem with him trying to start flame wars first by calling people on here immature and second by saying that I'm trying to flame him when I'm clearly not and then by reporting either me or this topic.

@JC: I don't know why ya always think I'm trying to flame ya but I'm sick of ya treating everything I say to ya as an attack.

Yeah. We're changing the subject guys and getting back on track.

Yes, laughing about these and saying they're stupid and dumb probably is disrespectful to those who made them and I'd imagine all of them made sense at some point (Minus the giraffe one and the gorilla one...) for example, the one about suits of armour in the Houses of Parliament in the UK. That would've made a lot of sense when people really DID wear suits of armour.

On the opposite hand, they ARE funny and out-dated in most cases and to be honest I highly doubt the people who created them are either alive or really care that much themselves now.

Cry. me. a. river. Stop trying to play the whole I'm an adult on here and I don't get respect card like I've seen ya do before.

Back on topic(finally!!): my state doesn't have very many dumb(or for those who care so much "odd" laws). In fact I named pretty much all of them that were appropriate for this site and even then my state barely has twenty. I do know one that's really weird: It goes somewhere along the lines of in Maryland it is illegal to drive backwards(like out of a driveway or parking space (etc)).

Thank you very much, Calmai!

But thank God for those who can see the bigger picture...like yourself and Canis Lupus...

And to you JC it was no problem X)
