But how can you HONESTLY pair these two books that have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN COMMON together? Yeah they're the most popular book series right now but so what? That doesn't mean anything.
Harry Potter is a child/young adult series that has its flawed characters (and that's a good thing! *wink wink*), a good plot and news flash ROWLING CAN WRITE! :O
The Twilight series are aimed mainly at teenage girls. It has its WAY TOO perfect characters, an overdone and unoriginal plot that has been done many, many, MANY times and honestly Meyers can not write even to save her life.
Really, what is there to compare between the two? Their fantasy books... but that's it. There's nothing in common. This is what I wanted to bring to peoples' attentions. Next time you want to compare two books, compare two books with SOMETHING IN COMMON.
It's quite obvious that I'm siding with Harry Potter in this argument because, to me, the series will always be the triumphant victor of these battles (for some of the reasons I've mentioned above), regardless if people disagree (and some will). I agree with you completely of course, but it's like what I think Kohaku Zero posted, this topic's mostly a popularity contest. And of course to view and discuss our point of views on each series.

HP has mythical elements, Twilight has mythical elements. Congratulations, you have wasted a completely raegful rant on such a stupid point.

I think that most movies that were originally a book are bad. The producers miss out a lot of important parts and they don't realize it. i watched the movies of Harry Potter first and thought they were really good. Now i think there a disaster area.

Just because they both are mythical does not make them have something in common Um, YES IT DOES. They both share a key element = something in common. Is this hard to comprehend or something for people? Gawd...

My favourite part was when Edward ripped open Bella's uterus with his teeth. That whole childbirth part just proved how much of a fallacy Breaking Dawn was. Not to mention, the anti-climatic finale.

Zorro the Coyote wrote: The sparkling annoyed me and if Mayer is going to write about vampires, she could've done her research and read Bram Stoker once or twice.
I actually watched a 15 minute special on vampires, a lot of information (This was a kid's movie, a special feature on the DVD, The Batman VS Dracula) I learned a lot. And I do remember hearing a clip of her saying : " I know I was going to be breaking the rules on vampires, and I didn't want to know how many." Something along those lines. I agree, I found Mayer lazy too. I research any thing I would be using, for characters, (Things like that) I don't see why she couldn't do that.

"I'm going to change some things and break the rules" is a poor excuse to not at least research what rules you are breaking beforehand.
Then again, this all was the creation of some wacky dream the author had of some totally hot guy and a character that is a self-insert. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a subconscious self-insert in the dream, but just because you dreamt about a book topic doesn't mean it's a good idea to write about it.

2. They never tell Charlie that Bella has died/become a vampire. Not only is this sick and unjustifed but it passed up on potential drama and better writing. Way to go, Meyer; you laziness is evident, why can't you just kill Charlie off if you can't be bothered with a father and daughter relationship? Oh, by the way, they never told him he had a granddaughter neither. What a happy scene this is playing out to be. How very senstive to people who never even get to know their maternal grandparents. Actually Charlie did find out about his granddaughter and spend alot of time with Bella after she was changed into a vampire. Jacob went over to his place and revealed what he was to Charlie and then he went to the Cullens and was brought into the world of vampires/ werewolves. After that Charlie visited Renesmee and Bella alot through out the rest of the book. Bella, Edward, Renesmee and Jacob actually all went and spent Christmas with him. Couldn't you have chucked that all in a spoiler? Bleh, anyway: My main beef with that ending is that there's no consequence of the big Italian mafia vampires swooping down and going after Charlie then... it makes the whole Volturi fuss with Bella seem a little stupid.
