What kind of dog is Bolt

He's probably either a German Shepherd puppy or a German Shepherd mix with some smaller breed in him. Though I think he's a puppy.

I've heard from the decriptions of the movie and many different people that he is a white german sheperd, but yeah his size makes it weird. I still think he's a hiwte german sheperd though.

Maybe he had a birth defect that made him small or something. He definantly looks like a german shepard but,not a puppy. I mean,the first part of the movie shows him when hes a puppy. Perhaps,hes only loosely based on a german shepard and not really a certain breed at all. I mean,look at Pluto for god's sake,he looks like a random yellow-orange dog to me. SO ya,he might not be a certain breed at all. :lol:

good point. He could very well be a mixed breed. Looks like a white sheperd but the size is from another breed.

Think about it:
After Penny bought him, 5 years later, he's barely 3 feet tall at the ears! No matter how much he looks like a Shepard, there's only one solution:
Eskimo dog

That's definetely not Bolt's breed.

It's features are too miniature; nose, ears, feet etc. And it's way too fluffy. And it's got a tail which curls against it's back.

Bolt's a White Shepherd. I think they just made him small to make him more cute and appealing.

Being realistic isn't Disney's top priority anyway. xDD So why are we still making such a big deal out of this?

Bolt realy is a White German Sheperd, Dawnshadow. I have one and my dad use to be a breeder so, like every one else said, he is a White German Sheperd.

oh and one more thing, the size is right they may look small but their heavy = =
