Thought I'd show mine.

This is my dog, Cookie! She's an Akita mix that my Dad adopted last month, and she's really sweet and mellow.

Here's a link to the picture, since the actual file is HUGE!

She looks part Staffordshire bull terrier or pitbull maybe boxer?

Hm... I was thinking more German Shepherd since she's got a similar coloration on her back (I should post a full-body picture of her, someday), and maybe some terrier in her... since, when we got her, she had a reputation for digging (although I haven't seen her do any).

Yeah, it is hard to tell from that angle. A full body shot would help. Of course, now there is a way to determine the genetics of a mixed breed (as you know, they can now do DNA tracing from a blood sample, and determine the likely breeds involved in a mixed-breed dog).

She's got a great smile though! Heh heh...

Hehe. She is REALLY cute (and so are all the other pets here (Milo is gorgeous, JC!)) I agree that she looks part Staffie (as in, the shape of her face) but well, Swords is her owner so I'd trust that judgment above others.

Err, I tried to find pictures of my cat but none are on my computer, I have about 40 (no exaggeration) or so pictures of her on my phone though. But she is the cat in my avvie! I love her! Her name is Toodie. She has a bald belly :O

We actually found her (no, she found us) but seeing as she fits almost the EXACT breed standard of a Burmese (her eyes are the only exception- I'm no show judge but I have read breed standards, and she looks darn close to me) and has been spayed (how do I know this? A) the chip or 'tattoo' in her ear, and B) we've had her for like 6 years and she's never had kittens) I'm pretty sure she had a responsible owner beforehand, but GAWDKNOWS why she was living as a street cat.

Anyway, it was amazing that we got her, because only few weeks before she came (I was 7 at the time) my Aunt (she was my dad's twin sister) died, so it was pretty awesome that she wouldn't stop pestering us.

 Hooray for Toodie

Oh, and she's a smart cat, she doesn't go anywhere near roads and usually stays in our house or back yard.

That's a great story! She's got very piercing eyes, though that is not all that uncommon for a cat, huh? I saw a picture of what was called a "Chocolate Burmese" with eyes of that color, so who knows? Perhaps she is Burmese.

As for cats, I don't own any (though, as a teenager, I fondly remember the white mixed-breed cat we had as a family pet - she was tops)...but I always thought that, if I were to acquire one, it would have to be the breed known as "the typical guy cat" - the Maine Coon. Big, dog-like, social...definitely a good addition for a guy and his dog.

Yeah. That particular eye colour, if in a show, would not mean a disqualification, just a penalty. And I love her eyes, in my opinion, I like her green-ish eyes better than the 'proper' round orange ones.

While she is very lazy, she's actually very sociable (to humans, that is) for a cat. She hates other cats, and merely hisses at dogs (she's not really that scared of dogs, just irritated at the sight of them XD) but while mostly all she does is sleep, she likes to sleep near where people are. She'll often follow you from one room to the next.

I actually am quite fond of tailless cats. I read somewhere that people form the island of Man, where the Manx breed originated from, have said how funny cats with tails look

While I'm here, I may as well post this drawing I did of Toodie.

Yes, I wouldn't care if Toodie was the most mixed-up moggie in the world if she had the same personality.

But really, the only non-superficial advantages of getting a dog or cat from a breeder is that you will know that they've been responsibly bred and that often affects temperament. Sometimes it could be healthier- but other times, mutts are generally healthier because they have a wide range of genetics and less chance of inbreeding.

Anyway, I think pets and their owners are matched up by fate. I've heard stories about people getting new pets on the exact date that their old pet died- and this was by chance.

Anywho, the next pet we get, whether it be cat or dog, will definitely be from the pound. Somethign about mixed-breeds attracts me and, more to the point, I love the idea of giving an abandoned pet a second chance in life. And instead of being around $500 for just the dog it's more like $70 and they've already been vaccinated and spayed/neutered.

I have a small, very small female pug. She's 1 year old with several months right now. No funny storries how we got her, we just saw her and decided to buy her. I don't think she's a purebred, but her breed is still very close to pug. I only have a pic of her when she was around 4 months old. Below it's my puppy Pupsee, and my mom's hand.

I have Beagle mix. My mom thinks she's part dashund (sp?) In 2003 my parents decided to get a small dog. Cause I was only 8 years old at the time so my Mom wanted a kid friendly dog. My Dad cleans at an animal shelter and found a beagle there and ended up adopting her.
Lila is getting old now. :( She's 7 (well 6 really.) years old now and we got her at 6 months old.

Here is a pic I took of Lila about a month ago sitting in a weird way in my room Oo
