Wolf_Bassist wrote: Since about early last month, after going for a run, I have repeatedly had problems with my right knee. It eventually goes away after a few days, only to return after the next run. I've tried wrapping it, icing it, ibuprofen, even switching to longer compression socks from shorter socks that don't even go above the ankle. Nothing has worked so far. I'm getting worried that it may be something serious. Are there any other home remedies I could try before having to go see a doctor? I'd look it up if I could, but circumstances make that impossible. For now I recommend going to your doctor; I'll do some research next chance I get. In the meantime, this might be some help. http://www.howstuffworks.com/home-remed ... /printable

Would anyone have a remedy for stress? Don't know if this counts.

Bee stings: If you ever have been stung by a bee, get 4tbs of apple cider and vinegar and put it on the sting. My Mom did this when my step grandpa got stung by a bee.

There are a number of ways to alleviate stress, but their effectiveness varies for different people and different kinds of stress. Is this a chronic kind of problem, or something situation-specific? Fill a cup with warm water and add table salt to it. Then swish the saltwater around in your mouth for about 10 seconds. Do this for a couple days and the cut should be healed. My great-grandma made this up- and it really works! I believe it. Salt can be painful on an injury, but it's the same principle as peroxide - that's how you know it's working. The saltwater trick also works for canker sores, or so I've heard. That's good. I addition, a tip to remove the stinger: slide your fingernail back and forth (sideways) over the spot. That's supposed to loosen it.

Togo wrote: I have something to add about bee stings. First of all, most of the times you're stung by a bee, the stinger stays there, as it's already been said. Also remember that there's a sack of poison, which keeps pumping it under your skin for many minutes, so you'd better remove it as soon as possible. Do not sqeeze it, obviously. Once you did that, put anything basic on the wound: bee's poison is acid, and that's also why it hurts so much, you can easly make the pain less intense by reducing the acidity with any basic liquid, like ammonia; this also means that anything acid, like a lemon, will only make it worse. If you have nothing like that, you can pee on it (a cup or a tissue shall make it easier): it contains a part of ammonia, so it will help. Very helpful when you're in the woods and a bee stings you. That's very useful information, but the last part's kinda gross. Still, sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do. Personally, I'd try milk instead if it's available. I'm pretty sure that's a base too (I remember hearing it's good for stomach ulcers as well).

It may be gross, but it's true and it works really well. If there's nothing else avaible, I find it way better than the pain the sting would cause. Also, it's something you always carry with you. XD I don't know about milk, but I'm pretty sure that it's a weaker base; but since I never tried that, I can't really say anything about it. Also, is this topic only meant for injuries / wounds / illnesses and stuff, or other remedies as well? That's true. I remember reading somewhere that when it's fresh urine also has antiseptic properties, but I'm obviously in no hurry to try it. And that's what this topic was intended for (injuries or illnesses). Did you have something else in mind?

This is a home remedy for stopping mosquitoes from attacking you without putting on those incredibly bad smelling sprays. It is rather simple just take a dryer sheet and put it in your pocket, mosquitoes will stay away. I've tried it and it works!
